Visiting beaches and places of interest by car

We are going to rent a car for two days and discover Mahe in November. We would like to visit the most beautiful beaches, swim, snorkel there and probably combine it with some places of interest. I have read that some beaches like Anse Intendance or Grand Anse are not appropriate for swimming but are beautiful to have a look at.

We are traveling with a little child (almost 2yo), so the places should be reached easily by car.

We will start in Beau Vallon.

Which beaches are good for snorkeling? Ideas like combining beaches with visiting interesting places such as the waterfall near Port Glaud are welcome.

Hello Lav4ik,

You can combine Port Glaud with Port Launay (which has good snorkeling) while in the south-eastern side of Mahe you can snorkel at Anse Royale and visit the same day Jardin du Roi and Plaine St Andre. You can visit also the south-western side of Mahe starting with Anse Intendance and ending the day trip at Anse a la Mouche.

Miki, thanks a lot for your recommendations.

As we will have two days only I am thinking of the following plan

Day 1. Tea factory - Hiking to Morne Blanc - Waterfall - Port Glaud - Port Launay

Are there any take away stands nearby?

Day 2. Anse Intendance - Anse Takamaka - Baie Lazare - Petite Anse - Anse Soleil - Anse a la Mouche

Are there any that can be omited? If it is not much, we will have time for Anse Royale and Jardin Du Ro.

Any recommendations for take away?

There is an excellent takeaway in Anse Royale about 150- 200 yards beyond les dauphins heureux

You can sit in their garden and eat as well and it is opposite the enterance to the University

You should definitely explore the are after the first beach at Port Launay. There is a wonderful, secluded beach next to the road.
