Seoul-Andong-Gyeongju-Busan (3 days 2 nights)

Day #1 (2nd Oct 2011)

from East Seoul Terminal take 2 hours, 40 minutes BUS to Andong Intercity Bus Terminal.

Q: Please provide us info on:

(1)bus no

(2)earliest departure time

(3)bus fare (won)

Our research shows that a Hanok Stay in Jirye Art's Village (Bokgu-ri) is worth a try. But from the map we can see it's almost 20km away from Andong city.

Q: Please suggest other similar Hanok Stay in Andong. Is there any Hanok Stay near Hahoe or Yangdong Village(prefer in Haheo-ri area)?

Day #2 (3rd Oct 2011)

from Andong Intercity Bus Terminal travel to Gyeongju

Q: Please provide us info on:

(1)bus no

(2)earliest departure time

(3)bus fare (won)

(4)bus terminal name in Gyeongju

Will go to Hanjin Hostel(at Wonhyo-ro) for a night.

Q: If we reach Gyeongju about 11am, is it possible for us to visit

(1)Gyeongju Historic Areas

(2)Seokguram Grotto

(3)Bulguksa Temple

in just 1 day?which one would be the first and which one should be the last for our trip?

Day #3 (4th Oct 2011)

from Gyeongju to Busan

Q: Please provide us info on:

(1)bus no

(2)earliest departure time

(3)bus fare (won)

(4)bus terminal name in Busan

We will end our trip here by taking a night ferry to jeju Island

Yes- 2 then 3 then 1. This means you start as far out as you need, then come back along the road to Bulguk ( please note :"sa" means "temple") and finish up in the Cheomsongdae area.

You should try to see Seokkbingo, Cheonsongdae, Anapji and the tumuli park at least.

thanks for your suggestion, pls advice on the route of our visit in gyeongju

after visiting Seokguram Grotto --> Bulguksa --> Gyeongju Historic Areas, we should be back to gyeongju city about 7pm, if we follow your suggestion going for a walk in the central area. There's Tumuli park, Anapji Pond, Seokkbingo & Cheomsongdae.

Which one should we go first & which should be last, would that be enough time for us to see them all from 7pm to 9pm at night?

"would that be enough time for us to see them all from 7pm to 9pm at night?"

no- it will be dark, I think..

I'm a bit confused- how will you travel in Gyeongju- bus?

I think you are better with a taxi to Seokkuram (then it's quite a walk). Bulguk Temple is only a few mins drive from Seokkuram, but you will need at least 1 hour there.

However with an 11 arrival, you could be back in the Cheomsongdae locality by 4, so why do you say 7?

[added]- do you think there is another historic area, perhaps, apart from Anapji , Tumuli Park etc?

our schedule rough plan as below

7am - Breakfast

8am - Travel from Andong to Gyeongju (2hours)

10am - Settle down in hostel

11am - Early lunch

1pm - Visit Seokguram Grotto

3pm - Visit Bulguksa Temple

5pm - Visit Daereungwon Tomb Complex (Cheonmachong Tomb)

7pm - Dinner

8pm – Visit Cheomseongdae & Anapji

YES, we plan to travel by public bus, that's why we need detail info on bus too.

i've check on Cheomseongdae will operate till 9pm at night & Anapji will operate till 10pm, so maybe we'll go to see the Cheomseongdae first after dinner. Is half an hour enough for Cheomseongdae? Are both of them in a long distance apart?

5pm - Visit Daereungwon Tomb Complex (Cheonmachong Tomb)

7pm - Dinner

8pm – Visit Cheomseongdae & Anapji

Daereungwon is 5 mins from Cheomsongdae, and 10 from Anapji. Without daylight, Anapji is pointless in my view.

I'd allow 20 mins at most for Cheomsongdae, and do both directly after Tumuli Park (Daereungwon), which shuts at 6. Eat after that.

From Gyeongju to busan you can take the fast train ktx they run almost every half hour and it takes only half hour. By the way from bulguksa you can take bus nr 12 to seokguram or you could go all the way up to seokguram, then walk down to bulguksa, then take bus nr 11 from there, get off at the museum cause anapji is right across the road from there, and from anapji you could walk to the astronomic observatory and the tombs. With a little organizing you could do all of this and still have time left.
