Tea plantations near Galle?

Attending a wedding in Colombo early November but arriving 2 (full)days earlier.

Would like to stay at a seaside resort, visit one or two heritage site(s) and visit a tea plantation which is one of Sri Lanka's famous exports.

Current plan is to stay in Galle for the sea and it being a heritage site. However I am informed that there are no tea plantations nearby.

Any idea how to incorporate this into the travel plan?

False information they're giving you. At one hour drive only from Galle, among the Akuressa road starting before the town of Imaduwa, there are quite a few tea plantations and factories. Of course it's low land tea, so not so famous as the real hill country stuff and factories having fewer tourist facilities. However for sure a Galle hotel can arrange a local guide/driver who can find a suitable lowland tea factory to visit!

All the best,

Yes Erik is correct there are enough of tea plantations within one hour drive away from Galle. All are known as low country tea growns.
