Galle Fort is brilliant for photography with lots of old colonial houses and public buildings and narrow old lanes in between. You can certainly spend a lot of time there and the light/shadow gives some interesting effects.

Also taking shots of people is good, there are some cliff divers, lots of informal cricket and people going about their business. The market area is always good value for people backed by colourful displays of goods - fruit is particular

You can also pop down to Unawatuna (10 minutes by bus or 3 wheeler) and behind the beach is an area they call the jungle (Rumsala) where you can get a lot of bird photography and possible monkeys.

Kanneliya forest, about an hours drive from town, would even be better than Unuwatuna-Rumassala as a 'jungle' trip. Kind of mini-Sinharaja, great for nature fun. Also consider the Dondra-Matara lighthouse (lovely vistas after a tiring climb) and/or boating near Hikkaduwa or Koggala.

All the best,

Hi ,

Depending on the time of the year you are traveling to Galle, you can go for a whale watching tour to get an exciting picture of a blue whale. Also some sunset pictures of Koggala and madolduwa is a picturesque location.
