"The Price of the Test Match Tickets"

We have just been quoted from £110 down to around £35 for a seat per day at Colombo and Galle. Considering the previous responses on this forum can anyone tell me if as Brits we are truly being ripped off by the Sri Lankan cricket board

Hi,

Who quoted you these prices?

The prices for the England tests will be higher than e.g. tests against Bangladesh, but above prices are outrageous. Are you sure it's not the price for a seat for all 10 days?

Cricket is one thing in Sri Lanka where tourists don't get ripped off. I have always paid the same price as locals for a seat in the same block.

You don't need tickets in advance anyway. Just turn up and pay on the day like everybody else. Those prices are bonkers, by the way.

Thanks for the replies. We are travelling with a specialised tour party and the company has been quoted the prices from the Sri Lankan Cricket Board. The cheapest price of £35 is an allocated seat in an open stand (with some cover?) square of the wicket and graded up from there by position and level of facilities/hospitality. Will take it up with our tour company. Many thanks again.

As Hans mentioned it can be 35 for all 10 days...

Even cricket world cup 2011 Sri Lanka vs Austrlia ODI tickets were priced from 300Rs (3$) upwards. So for test cricket it should be lot less as it will never attract a big crowd.

cheers

I paid LKR 250 for ICC World Cup 2011 match between Sri Lanka and Australia, and they were not the cheapest tickets.

Ticket prices for the England tests will be higher than that due to the invasion of the Barmy Army. IIRC the cheapest tickets for the England test in Galle some yeas ago were around LKR 200.
