Hi, Just wondering if someone can tell me if its feasible to do a day trip from Ahangama to Yala National Park??
Ahangama to Yala National Park is approx. 3-3.5 hours each way by car. Safaris are 6-9 am or 3-6 pm. So either a very early start or a late return.
Thanks, might be a bit far for one day. Can anyone suggest a national park or sanctuary that's closer?
There aren't any, unfortunately.
Personally, I think you'd be very lucky to make it from Galle to Yala in even 3 hours.
Sinharaja is nearer (but best for birds not mammals).
Uda Walawe is also nearer. You won't see leopard but it's a a great place for elephants. It's also home to the Elephant Transit home so you could see the babies at feeding time (from a distance of course) .
Excellent thanks. We'll have a look at it. We are staying just outside Galle for 7 nights and then in negombo for 2 nights, can anyone suggest some must do activities. Thanks
