Presumably you are flying non-stop to Phuket from Abu Dhabi? If so then so long as you keep your purchases in the sealed bag then you can take through on arrival in Phuket. Remember to keep to the limit of 1 litre of spirits per person which is strictly controlled. Unless you are buying a special brand which is unlikely to be available to purchase locally in Khao Lak (gin, rum, brandy, whisky) you are not likely to make huge savings in Abu Dhabi. You probably can get regular spirits cheaper at home and pack them carefully in your suitcases then you don't need to bother about carrying them from Abu Dhabi onwards.

Yup, agree with previous post.

Wouldn't even consider any duty free in Abu Dhabi, just buy the stuff when you get here. Even the wine at AD airport is quite expensive.

That's weird as i wouldn't normally bother untill someone told me Abu Dhabi duty free is very cheap. Was consiidering getting a high end Bourbon for the villa. No worries.. Back to normal then.

Thanks for the replies.
