La Flora or Apsara? Help!

Hello all,

Staying in Khao Lak for 4 nights in mid november and stuck on hotels. I regionally booked the Apsara Beachfront Resort as it seems a good price and a nice hotel.

Reading more about it it seems quite far from any of the bars/restaurants?

I then looked at La Flora and decided to splash out a little on a bit of a nicer hotel nearer bars etc and booked a deluxe room.

Does anyone have any recommendations for these two or any better hotels?

Thanks in advance

Hannah

The 4* Apsara is located on the secluded but beautiful Pakarang Beach. In November the nearby beach restaurants and those just up the road will be open. Otherwise it is a 20-25 minute shuttle or taxi to the main towns of Bang Niang and Bang la On where most restaurants are located. Pics of Pakarang Beach including some of the Apsara from last High season at https:/… and map of the area at walagata.com/w/…KHAO_LAK_NORD_2013.jpg

The 4* La Flora is situated on the best and widest part of Bang Niang Beach with easy access to lots of restaurants, bars and small hops and the three afternoons a week Bang Niang Market. See pics of beach at https:/… and map of Bang Niang at walagata.com/w/…Bang_Niang_October_2013.jpg

The 4* Adult Only Kantary is located on Pak Weeb Beach, the most beautiful of all of Khao Lak's beaches with just a handful of beach restaurants nearby including three on the very popular White Sand Beach. Otherwise again it is a 20-25 minute shuttle or taxi to Bang Niang and Bang la On. See pics at https:/… and same map as for the Apsara.

So it depends what you are looking for.

Best beach location? My view 1 = Kantary, 2 = Apsara, 3 = La flora

Best for restaurants etc? 1 = La Flora, 2 = Kantary or Apsara

Hope this helps.

Thanks Arandora. I am hopeless at making up my mind! We are heading to Ao Nang for 3 nights then a secluded beach bungalow on Phi Phi for two nights so trying to get get a good mix or quiet and busier resorts.

Ao Nang is more commercialised and built up than either Bang la On or Bang Niang and its beach is very much a working one for fishing boats and trips to the neighbouring small beautiful islands for which Krabi is famous. The once entirely beautiful Phi Phi is now still beautiful in parts but over commercialised in others. For a resort in Khao Lak it really is about location. You should not be disappointed in any of the accommodation you are considering.

See my comments and links to pics at reply #1 about the La Flora. It is next door to the Ramada so they apply there too.

I love La Flora, on a nice beach and so handy for beach restaurants and a short walk to town.

La Flora is very nice - so nice in fact that we are going back for a month (for the third time) in December.
