Merlin khaolak

Hi

Staying at the merlin beach resort end of July/beg of august. Taking into consideration that it will be the school summer holidays does the resort get busier. Also, are there any bars open on the beach now in walking distance from the merlin.

How much is a cab into khaolak town ?

thanks so much

The Merlin remains popular and quite busy throughout the Wet Season but school summer holidays, presumably from Europe, don't have that marked an effect usually. There are no independent beach bars or restaurants on the stretch of beach on which the Merlin is located. None are allowed. However, you may find a couple open just set back from the beach on the stretch to the left. The main independent restaurants and bars are in the area between the beach and the resorts on it and the highway a couple of hundred metres away where there are more. A taxi over the mountain into Bang La On, the main town is about 200 - 300 baht each way.

We stayed at the Merlin in Feb, in a swim up room. We loved the resort and location which is just a short walk from a small village. You really have made a smart choice of hotel, its beautiful.

Taxi from the village, at the bottom of the hill from the hotel into KL centre, as they call it, was 250 thb each way.

TIP, go to Nang Thong supermarket in KL to stock up on supplies as the resort can be quite expensive.

Have a great stay, the pool areas at this hotel are stunning.
