A couple of questions

Dress Code : Have had a look at the Thailand forum about this but want to clarify, are shorts/vest top ok for day time, and vest top/skirt or dress ok in evening? I understand that for temples shoulders and legs (and feet) should be covered, but are vest tops and shorts ok the rest of the time?

Bankok: Although we fly into Bankok, we are coming straight to hua Hin. Is it possible to go to a day trip to Bankok, or is it worth leaving our Hua Hun for the night and staying a night in Bankok. Who is it best to organise the trip with or is it worth just getting public transport and arranging my own hotel (not just financially, but also from a hassle point of view as it is my honeymoon.

That's all for now, thanks for your help!

You already know temple dress code.

For daily stay in Thailand, wear anything you like.

In my opinion, take a day trip, shop, have nice meals and spend the first night in Bangkok. You'll be too tired if you go directly to Hua Hin.

Book a car from your hotel in Bangkok to go to your Hua Hin's hotel.

learning to travel

temple dress code

shoulders must be covered, t-shirt okay, singlet/vest okay as long as shoulders covered by shawl/scarf.

take shoes off before entery, barefeet okay or with socks okay

skirt must be at or close to knee level

bangkok is about 3.5 hrs by car/minivan from hua hin. too much driving for a day trip. suggest you stay overnight or longer.

We have always (and are doing so again in Sep) landed in Bangkok and gone straight down to Hua Hin. We have used hotelthailand.com to meet us at the airport and we go straight to our hotel in Hua Hin. We will then have a couple of nights in Bangkok on the way home. Hotelthailand driver was there to pick us up and take us to our hotel in Bangkok. Works great for us.

We are staying at the Marriott resort and spa in Bangkok and they are very easy to get hold of yourself and book a room if you want a night or two in Bangkok.

Dress code. Shorts and tshirt is fine for the day and mostly nights unless you are staying at a posh hotel where you might feel better in a shirt or a dress for your meal. Temple visit would be the only time I would think about what I am wearing but you seem to know that bit.

Hope this helps

Pam
