Twin centre of day trips?

Trying to decide whether to do 3 days in Bangkok and 11 in Hua Hin or whether to stay in Hua hin for 14 days. Are there day excursions to the Grand Palace/ Bangkok and to the River Kwai from Hua Hin as we are thinking that we could do one big day out each week.

Advice/comments please

I'd do 3 days in Bangkok and the others in Hua Hin. Do your excursions while you're staying in Bangkok and you'll be closer. Then travel down to Hua Hin for a lovely relaxing vacation.

If you wish to do the "River Kwai" trip, you need plenty of time to see everything including the various museums. Also Hellfire Pass is really worth visiting and that is at least 1 hour further north. A day trip is not enough time. You should be looking at staying overnight in the city of Kanchanaburi, where the "Bridge on the river Kwai" is situated.

I agree with Gunrunner. Why not two nights Bangkok, two nights Kanchanaburi, then transfer to Hua Hin for ten nights. Kanchanaburi is a must see, and roughly a three hour journey to Hua Hin. We stayed at the Oriental Kwai resort, where they arranged our pick up in Bangkok and transfer to Hua Hin as well as tours for the surrounding area...fabulous place!

If you are looking for accommodation in Bangkok and Hua Hin, try Netflights, they have some great bargains at the moment with free night offers. We always look there first, they usually come up with the cheapest prices (sometimes up to half price). We've stayed in the Century Park in Bankok nice and close to Victory monument and the Sky train, and the Hilton and the Centara in Hua Hin . At the moment Centara is in offer for selected dates on Netflights.
