Any advice would be great!!!

We were in Phuket specifically Patong Beach a couple of years ago - the year before the Tsunami in Dec. We had a fantastic time and we stayed at the Seaview Patong HOtel. We are breaking our rule of never going back to the same place this year Dec, however we want a different hotel. Reading the reviews on Trip Advisor makes it difficult and based on research we ended up in a real dump hotel in Turkey last year Dec. Can anyone suggest a real good, clean value for money hotel where the room is not so small we cant swing a cat in it. My husband is 1.8m tall and we are not beachy people but we dont mind walking. We are not clubbers or jollers been there done that - would love your input

Have you thought about staying at Karon or Kata rather than Patong?

In Karon I can highly recommend the Old Phuket Hotel. The rooms are large, clean and bright. Grounds are well maintained. Staff have good command of the english langauge and are very helpful. Breakfast has a good variety and ample to get you started for the day. On our last stay we stayed in a pool access room - beautiful outlook over the pool and up into the mountains.

Old Phuket is a short stroll to the beach and about a 5 min walk to Karon Circle.

There is plenty to do in Karon without the hustle and bustle (that's in Patong) although I'm not sure of how busy it will be in Dec (as we travel in Oct).

We stayed in Kamala lat year and we are going back in June and Novenber this year, quiet place, wonderful people and still close enough to Patong if you decide to go there, Print Kamala Resort is nice, we are staying there this time.

Have stayed at both Boomerang Village in Kata and Pacific Club in Karon.

Both are reasonably priced and fit your description (personally prefer Pacific Club).
