PhiPhi or James Bond island - Please suggest

Hi,

I would like to do the one day tour of PhiPhi by expressboat.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE TOUR : Sight seeing around Phi Phi Lay Islands. (Maya Bay, Loh Samah Bay, Pileh Cove & Viking Cave) swimming & Snorkeling on Coral Bay, explore PhiPhi don.

Should I also go for 4 in 1 Full day tour James bond Island sea canoe ?

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE TOUR : Phang Nga Bay by escort boat, Discovery of the lagoons and caves by canoe at Koh Hong and Koh Panak, Transfer from Koh Hong to Koh Panak, Departure to James Bond Islands. Visit of this island (Khao Tapu), Departure to Lawa Island for self paddling, swimming or simply relaxing on the lovely beach.

Are the tours of similar nature or is it worth going for both the trips ?? Or should I go for any other tour along with the PhiPhi tour ??

Desparately need your advice !!!!!!

They are both good trips, but you should know that they are in two very different areas. PhiPhi is to the south east of Phuket in Krabi province. "James Bond" island is in Phangnga province north of Phuket. 'James Bond' island itself is not worth stoping at as the beach is tiny and overun with souvenir sellers, but the hundreds of other islands and outcrops in stunning Phangnga Bay make a visit here memorable and well worthwhile. If you can. do both trips.

Phi Phi and James Bond are entirely different, no problem doing both. Or just one. I would do both.

The only problem with the 2 trips you are talking about is that they will be busy anfd crowded.

James Bond is only a very small part of the beautiful Phang Nga, the caves and hongs are amazing. Most of the sea canoes tend to be in the mangrove Forest not around the caves. And you really dont want to do the caves without someone to guide you into them safely.

For me if you really want to look at the caves , see James Bond, and sea canoe have a look at Phuket Sail tours They do a spped boat trip that covers all of this, You may pay more but you will have a wonderful day and where possible they will try to stay away from lots of tourists (not possible at James Bond to be away from Tourist) You may pay more than the tours you have seen , but worth every cent. I would also do Phi Phi with them as again it will be less crowded (max 20 on the boat) and if the weather is bad and dangerous they wont take you, so they are very safe

I have seen Phuket sail tours and the price per person for both the tours are 3250 THB. This is about 5200 rupees which is quite a lot of money !!!! So I am looking for a budget tour.Neways, I want to enjoy these islands & the splendid beaches. For the canoes, do they charge anything extra ?? Is everything covered in the price that is quoted or there are something for which we need to pay extra ??

Yes they are more expensive, but worth every cent, both for the experience you will get, and for you saftey.

You dont mention which month you are going in? If its still in Wet season, I wouldn't risk doing Phi Phi with anyone but PST.

Hello Sandi,

I did both these tours when I was in Phuket this March. It was my first time in Thailand and these tours were excellent. I went with Phuket Sea Island Co. Ltd. and had a fantastic time.

The high powered speed boats depart from the Royal Phuket Marina Pier which is amazing. The trips were very well organised and both included pickup transfers from your accommodation, lunch, soft drinks, Insurance and National Park admission fees. The canoeing on the James Bond tour was also included in the price.

I'm glad I did both of them because they offered two different experiences to two amazing places.

There were lots of tourists but you just have to accept that everyone wants to go and see these amazing places.

I also went to Raya Island (also known as Racha Island). This trip was much cheaper than the two mentioned above because the island is much closer. The trip went from Chalong Pier in a smaller speed boat. Raya Island is beautiful. The trip included snorkelling and a lunch.

You haven't said where you will be staying so the departure marinas may not be the most appropriate for you.

I have sent you a private message.

Peace and Positivity,

Tia

Both trips are worth doing but I enjoyed the "James Bond" tour more than the Phi Phi one - but it obviously depends on your tour operator as there are many companies around. I wouldn't book anything until you get there so you can ask around for the best operator and negotiate a good price in person.

I cannot remember who I used but for the Phang Nga/James bond trip we were in quite a small group on longtail boat. The "James Bond" island is great for photos but the highlight was the canoeing in the sea caves. We stopped off at one of the floating fishing villages for an excellent meal on the way back.

The Phi Phi trip was on a large boat - rather than the speed boats that other (presumably more expensive) companies offered. The snorkelling was fun but we didn't have much time on Phi Phi and the supplied meal was almost inedible. Still a decent day out though.

Hi

If you want a truely amazing day out, try and get in touch with Simba Sea trips. Geoff and Jenny are the bomb!. We went out with them a couple of years ago to Phi Phi and surrounding islands. they are so informative and their homestyle lunch is to die for. Especially after days of spicy Thai food. (which I do love by the way).

My husband is not huge on these sorts of tours but came home saying it was the highlight of the holiday. They travel with a maximum of about 13 people on a boat and do not overcrowd like some tours do.

I will be going during mid December. Guess the sea will be calm at that time. PhiPhi I will go in a big boat. This is decided !! James bond tour will be better in a longtail boat or speedboat ?

I find in many of websiles that the prices mentioned are valid till 31st October. But when I enquire by email, I am told that I will be offered the price mentioned in December also. Can I rely on this or it may be that I will be asked for more ?? Which is a better option - to book now for December or to book a tour once I am in Phuket ??

Unless you have your hearty set on going with a partiulcar company then I would wait unti I got there before booking. There are loads of companies offering virtually identical tours and out of season there are big discounts which can be got by talkng to local travel agents. It's usually possible to book trips the day before.

I did the Phi Phi last October and paid less than half what others did who had booked before they lefty home
