Captain Thomson's Resort

My sister and I are at at Captain Thomson's Resort in Alexandria Bay. We arrived here in the rain yesterday. Our view of the castle is incredible. As the storm passed and the sun set last night, we watched the sky behind the castle turn from grey to purple. We enjoyed watching the huge ships pass between us and the castle.

Maybe I should back track, I originally emailed the resort to ask about room availability. Their response to my email was very prompt. We then called to make the actual reservation. Knowing that we wanted a channel view, the person on the phone helped us select the perfect room on the 2nd floor. We spent Satuday night in Watertown because the channel rooms here were fully booked. We called Capt Thomson's at about 11:30 a.m. Sunday to see if we could get in the room early (check-in is 3 pm) but we were told the last guests had just departed and it would not be ready early. We arrived at about 1:30 and sure enough, our room still wasn't ready so we parked one car in the parking lot, and took the other car to the casino in Canada. (What else could we do in the pouring rain.) The 2 women at the front desk were very friendly and helpful.

Although the motel is obviously older, everything in our room looks brand new....and that view of the castle is gorgeous.

We stopped in a gift shop and asked where to get the best burger in town. We were diredted to the Dockside Pub. They were right - we had awesome burgers.

On today's agenda- - a boat tour and visit to the castle. That is, if we can tear ourselves away from this awesome view.
