hi melanie, i am in djerba now. Vicci is one of the better resorts. hotel is important because basically there is very little to do on the island except sun bath. there are no good restaurants on the island. dont bother with the casino restaurant, the only one we have found is at the port. just ask a cabby to take you to the restaurant at the port. personally i would sign up to a few trips. definately do the CASTAWAY cruise to flamingo island, our best day so far!! dont go to houmt souk or meduine at night. advice over ... the sea is nice just watch for hidden rocks!!

we were with family on may 15.05.2004. around are hotels and streets. beach is 400 - 500 m - short walk. hotel has also incl. transfer - they have a small part of private beach. i were with children and we liked it. hotel has a big swimming poool. near you can find mini market and shop with souvenir . center is near you can take taxi it's cheap.butyou must stop it at the street.if you have a children it very fine also for adults.they have mini club, aerobic a lot of animations... you must know that alcohol is expensive. you can by it only in hotel or in one shop in Djerba. beer - around 6 âì.

Didn't stay in the Vincci, but know the area. All the 4* hotels are basically the same clean and comfortable, everything you need on site and each has it's own disco/night club. I think it opened about 3 years ago. As for all the hotels on Djerba there's nothing much immediately around the hotel. The capital is Houm Souk and a smaller town, Midoun are worth a trip for shopping. Nightlife is basically in the hotels. If you want to meet locals and tourists at night try " The bowling" behind the Hasdrubal Hotel. Be careful because there are two. - everywhere is a cheap taxi ride away. Good hols.

I'm glad people had good things to say about this resort as I'm off there on the 24th June for a week. Don't mind that there's not much to do in Djerba - I go on holiday to slow down!!

I've heard stories that the food isn't very good - my boyfriends vegiterian, will there be enough for him to eat?

Also, is the water safe to drink or is it worth buying bottles?

Really looking forward to having a break, I'm just a little aprehensive as I've never been to Tunisia before.
