Palm Beach Club, Hammamet

Has anyone stayed at this hotel and can you recommend? Thinking of booking for a party of 6; two adults, one 18 year old, one 17 year old and two 14 year olds. Can't find too much info on it. Thanks.

Its the first time I have seen this hotel mention on the forums

I checked reviews. on this site.

58 in all. Not one from a UK visitor.

It appears to be popular with French visitors.

The reviews appear mixed (good and bad)

I would not imagine many regulars on here would know of the hotel

Possibly Cas and Khal who both know Hammamet well

They may know more about the place.

Sorry I could not be of more help .

Regards

Mick

Thank you for your reply Mick. I too looked at the reviews, hopefully Cas or Khal might reply with some feedback. It is very reasonably priced with Thomson, £714 per person, for two weeks all inclusive and including flights in the July school holidays, so thought I would ask. Regards, Sue.

Sue,

I wish you I could give you a better opinion.

Thompson must just have added recently this hotel to their brochure. From what I remember of it, its main guests were Tunisians from outside Hammamet and those living abroad and French nationals. The very few Brits who were there were independant travellers

It is officially ranked a 4 stars hotel. But I won’t class it as such despite going some major refurbishment. It is more of a lower grade 3 stars.

The one aspect of the hotel that I didn’t like, and other guest complained about, was the arrogant and attitude of locals when they descend in this hotel. Especially in summer months.Rude, insulting and they bribed management for favourable treatment. Needless to say that some western female guests were constantly leered at with an unwelcome looks!!!

But having looked at recent reviews I noted that there are quite few positive thing being said about the place. So my advice is go with an opened mind, and enjoy what I hope would be a good experience.

You did not say when in July you are going. But you must be aware that the Muslim Holy month of Ramadan will fall around end of June / Early July.

Cheers

Cas

My opinion .both on the price and also the comments from Cas

Bottom line? .... look for an alternative hotel

If stuck for options, detail your "likes" and also the interests of the younger members in the party

And post on here

Personally and we, as a family have been to Tunisia many times (though not an expert on hotels)

I would not choose this hotel

I would look at better rated hotels and certainly a place that would interest the teenagers.

I don't think this place fits that bill.

Regards

Mick

if you consider other hotel options, come back on the forum for advice.

Many on here are repeat visitors to Tunisia and are familiar with a number of hotels in the resorts

Many thanks for your replies. We are looking at going around 24th July, the beginning of the school holidays. I was most interested because of the price that Thomson are offering it at! We stayed at Sentido Phenicia around the same time last year, of which we really enjoyed. However this year we're looking at cheaper options, although would be happy to pay a little more rather than be disappointed and have moaning teenagers! Thanks again, not booking just yet, just looking at options. Best wishes, Sue.

Plus Sentido Phenicia seem to be fully booked, which I find strange this early as last year we didn't book until around a month before.

Hi Sue

Places for the school holidays are booking fast.

We are seeing it in Cornwall, lots of holiday parks/campsites are fully booked already for the 6 weeks holiday.

Probably due to the term time holiday ban.

Don't leave it too late to book wherever you choose.

A friend works in a travel agents and are having to turn down bookings abroad for school hols.

A lot of the cheaper hotels in lots of resorts/countries are already sold out.

The alternatives being too expensive for a lot of people.

Hope you find somewhere soon and let us know where you book.

Sue

Its not in Hammamet , but Sousse

.Have a look at the Marhaba Salem,

Because of the activities they have geared to families and the bonus of using the facilities at the sister hotel, Royal Salem

And it is on the beach

And its a short hop in a cab to Sousse Centre.

For personal reason I have had to cancel this hotel twice get there yet !

Another hotel the youngsters will like is the Houda Beach in Skanes

Football pitch tennis courts

Pool slides and on the beach.

Thank you both for your replies. Funnily enough I have just been looking at Houda Beach in Skanes, but will take a look at the Marhaba Salem also.

Many thanks Sue.
