I havnt seen copies in PEK,its just your usual tourist stuff, you may get the handbags!.Marhaba Palace does sell imported drinks, but they are very expensive, when I stayed there I bought smirnoff on the plane and had a couple of drinks on the balcony before I went out,or maybe have a couple of minitures in her bag and slip into her mixer as I also did........

I have NEVER seen an original designer peice of clothes in Pek.they are all copies, some quite good others awful. If you want sprits buy some on the plane to have a sip before you go to dinner.they are Very expensive in most hotels as are the imported beers. The local celtia is like a lager rather than a beer and a small bottle these days 2 to 3 denars.

In the bars if you find one ! every thing is quite expensive, the local stuff could be 5 to 7 denars.

Actually, there are - for example the Jeans brand "Bigstar", which is produced in Sousse, or "Benetton", which is also produced in Sousse (in the industrial park south of the center).

However, it is almost impossible to authenticate it, because there is a lot of clothes that come from the offical plants, but are made during "extra shifts" or that are given to the employees because it is 2nd or 3rd choice quality. Let alone the products that are made somewhere else and only get the brand sticker attached.

Generally said, the good things go into export and won't show up in shops in Tunisia - the clothes usually loose color very fast and shoes tend to disassemble after 1-2 weeks (just enough for the buyer to have left the country by then). :-)

In the "Slim Center" in Sousse (near the Hotel Marhaba and the Casino), one can find an official "Benetton" shop, a little bit up the road is a "Bigstar" outlet, and in some boutiques in Khezama and Sahloul various brand name ware is sold. But, as said above, only an "expert" can really authenticate whether it is an "original" or a fake - the price sticker certainly won't give you any hint!
