Having just got back from an amazing whirlwind holiday in Port el Kant.. I thought I should start a new topic solely for the first timers. Feel free to add your own obviously.
March- if you are thinking of going this month make sure you familarise yourselves with their customs and any festivals if any to avoid getting caught up.
2). Also don't forget to take appropriate suitable clothing to ensure you are warm or not too cold. Ideally take your walking shoes, coats, hats, sunscreen, umberella and sweatshirts.
3. If you are staying in an all inclusive place check the hotel has a hairdryer!
4). Take a camera ;-) snap, snap, snap
5). Take a French\ arabic phrasebook as some locals appreciate when trying to converse with you, even though you may end up saying the wrong thing. Also at least you'll be able to ask for help!
6). Travel in numbers - even at night. Women are discouraged from travelling alone at night. So stay safe! Wear reflectors and make sure you give someone your details so they can assist you.
7). Take lots of money- for tips. Tip maids, staff and just about everyone at the hotel.
Well that's all I can think of folks.
