Money and Tipping

Could I please get some advice on how much to tip.

When we arrive we will have only English money, do we tip the porter with that and how much? Also the cleaners and restaurants, what is a reasonable amount to tip? Not paying for meal as all inclusive there is no percentage we can judge the payment by even and we do not want to be mean.

Also could anyone advise how much money we are likely to need to take with us, we are going for 10 days in June. We would like to go on some trips and buy drink out occasionally but we have no idea of prices and what to take. Is it easy to exchange our English money to Tunisian?

Thank you for any help that can be given it is much appreciated.

I took about 500 out the other year! Was plenty, did the. Quads, jet skis twice drinks out and an evening meal! Brought about 180 home. Gave the porter a couple of 2 pound coins. You can change money at hotel reception, and gave the beach boy what I had left in my pocket everyday to put our towels out

With tipping do you get smaller coins and notes when changing money in hotels?

Don't have to tip all the time, A few dinar now and again is sufficient. Just get 1 dinar coins for tips from your exchange place in your hotel.

Hi I generally work out what I tip from knowing what the average wage is for certain hospitality staff wherever I go in the world. What seems like not much to us is sometimes a couple of hours even days wages to them, I just like to keep it real and proportionate. Anybody know what the average wage is or there abouts.

Thanks in advance

A cleaner: about 250 dinar a month

A young waiter: about 300 dinar a month - a waiter with about 20 year experience in the same hotel: 600 dinar

A young chef in the kitchen (with a qualification): 500 dinar

this is a month for a a six days working week

Certainly hits home when you know what the cleaners earn.

Im a cleaner in a Doctors practice/dental, i earn that a week for 2 hours a day/ 5 days a week.

These dear cleaners work very very long days.

We try to be generous to the cleaners and waiters. Also give dinars to the poor gate men.Goodness knows what they get paid compared to the other staff
