We flew back yesterday and Enfidha airport was a nightmare!!!! new system in place for check-in / passport control is useless, desks 9-23 for all destinations!!! all flights delayed lots of last call for flights and people were,nt even through passport controll and guess what Tunisians started closing desks!! OMG we have been going to Tunisia for 9 years now but even Monastir was,nt as bad,us along with loads of others been called for boarding and staff just shrugged their shoulders when approached,3 hours to check-in and get through passport control made flight just !!! really hope this system does,nt last long

So whats the new system then?

Dont seem any different to what it was like in December, the check in desks was for all destinations then too. Only 9 desks open on the Wed 18th Dec then. And thats with the new security to get into the airport .

I understood the system of Thomas Cook not having dedicated check in desks only started last month - and was chaos then. Afraid Enfidha always has been and always will be rather chaotic.

Unhappyscot1

Well, you got that of your chest;-)

Your Donald Duck I suppose !;-)

It happens at every airport now and again

Been through Enfidha more than a dozen times now

Maybe we got "lucky"

Only once encountered huge queues like you describe and that was the around April/ May 2011

when Enfidha opened up to more traffic from UK operators

Teething problems maybe back then ;-)

In fact we flew out to Monastir and returned from Enfidha that trip

I recall delays at Monastir before the changes.

It just wasn't coping with increased visitor numbers, no matter how many staff they had on duty (not enough desks)

And little air con back in the day It was not a happy experience then .

Hopefully your experience is not repeated too often

Oh and if you want to see big crowds try Palma Airport July/August !

I guess most popular destination airports have this problem ,not just Enfidha

Mick

The only queueing we had was getting into the airport after alightig the coach, in May, as they had a scanner at the door before we got in the airport, My OH had a couple of boxes of rolling tabacco in his case and we were pulled over to show them what it was as it showed up as boxes scattered around his case.

ahhhhhhhhhh the good ol days of Monastir, queueing for 2+ hours half in and half out of the building to get through passport control, then OH waiting for the cases while I changed some money, puffing away on a ciggarette while perusing duty free.

We flew TC to/from Enfidha last month,June 18th-29th.

Had a great experience with no queue's.

On arrival we were out of the airport within 30 minutes of landing.

Going home we had to queue less than 10minutes to go through scanner, walked straight up to check in desk and maybe queue'd 10 minutes again through passport control.

We were flew 30 minutes before our scheduled flight time.

Wednesdays appear to be the best days through Enfidha, when we went in December,on our return we was the only flight leaving that evening on the 18th.Lookiing back to when we used to go through Monastir nearly 20 years ago,the cafe was a folding table with a tea urn etc lol.

Aye, it was a bit primitive back in the day, was ole Monastir

On a busy day the back of the check in queue was outside the terminal.

Remember one year, it was so hot staff and travel reps were dishing out bottles of water to people

When you did finally get indoors ,it wasn't much better. Sweat just lashed off you

It was like a scene from an old 1940s Ealing movie.

People now moaning about Enfidha, don't know the half of it ;-)

Expansion both at Monastir and using Enfidha was way way long overdue, as visitor numbers increased year on year during the mid/late 90s.

Came in through Enfidah this morning, landed at 915, finally got down to claim baggage around 75 minutes later. Initial queues were horrendous but they slowly... and I mean slowly! ... started to open more check-in gates.

Not a great experience but we all generally queued in a good natured fashion.

To morrow may be different, Richard

Its the nature of Airports, as I stated earlier

Not unique to Enfidha

Our last visit ,we sailed through

You would have loved Monastir;-)

Regards

Mick

I assume you meant Immigration booths
