Side or Lara Beach?

We are 5 mature women looking for a good 5 star hotel in either Side or Lara Beach.

We have had many holidays in turkey, but never in this area and want to know which would be best for us.

We like a hotel with good food, all inclusive, good evening entertainment, but also within walking distance of a nearby town for shops and bars etc. We plan to arrive 2nd week in June 2014 and are hoping not to be right in the middle of school holidays.

We don't want to be any longer than 1hour transfers time from the Airport either if possible as our flight gets us in late evening from Glasgow.

We Are looking around the Side area, thinking this may suit us due to the access to the town, and have considered the Sentido Perissia, but really need some inside information.

We need 2 rooms to accommodate 5 adults and also we would like a nice balcony.

Please can anyone advise us of this area?

Thank you in anticipation of your replies

Lara Beach has wonderful hotels and a nice beach - but that is all - there is nothing at all to do outside the hotel complexes.

In Side you have the 2nd longest sandy beach in all of Turkey - a promenade going along its coastal edge - dotted along the way with lots of little bars and restaurants - an active amphitheatre - Apollo Temple where Anthony and Cleopatra fell in love - a Saturday market - many boutique type shops -

Yes - Sentido Perissia hotel would be a good choice - right on the beach and next to the promenade into Old Town Side.

Side is stunning..so much history..and lovely to stroll around. Lara has great hotels, but you will be stuck inside in the evenings, unless you take a taxi into Antalya.. The plus side, the transfer is only 20 mins

Thank you so much for the replies. I think this has decided us it will be Side. mostly good reviews of the Sentido hotel, but as usual you get the odd bad one.

We have been told the Crystal hotel almost next door is brand new and very good, so now we have to decide on the hotel. Any advice would be good.

Thank you both for the reply again

We've been to both.

You'll be looking at more than an hours transfer for Side unless you get a private transfer, just something to bear in mind.

Also, be aware that although you won't be travelling in the school holidays there will still be lots of children around especially under 5's.

Turkish schools generally break up mid June as well so you may well get a few Turkish families. Or exhausted teachers ;-)

We were drawn to the Sentido Perissia because of the promenade with access to Side. There is indeed access into Side via the promenade BUT who wants a good three quarter's of an hour walk (each way) in the extremely hot June weather?

The journey by coach from the airport took an hour and a quarter because we were first 'drop off' On the way back it was an extra half an hour because we were first pick up and had to go to six other hotels ob route to the airport.

There must be other good quality hotels nearer to Side itself. ;o)

IF you DO decide on the Sentido Perissia please be aware that a lot of their rooms have french balconies i.e. You cannot sit out on them ;o)

Thank for that, we do like to sit on the balcony,so we might have to re think that. I don't think we would be 1st drop off etc. as Thomas cook say it is a style hotel and there is no mention of this like Thomson premier holiday. Can anyone advise us of a good hotel a bit nearer Side with not such A long walk into town?

We do want 5 star all inclusive, but would rather go to one on recommendation.

We might just have to accept it will take longer on the transfer.

Thanks

Barut Andiz is a new adults only hotel with good prices just now as it has only been open a couple of months - or Barut Hemera is also a good 5 star hotel right on the beach and next to the promenade into town too.
