travel to kas from AYT, with a 7 moth old baby & other stuff

hi i hope you are all well.

seriously considering going to kas, but not keen on the 4 hour bus transfer with a 7 month old. is there a quicker way to get there if so how and how much please.

also:

e-visas: we are thinking of travelling within 7 days - is it possible to get an evisa instantly or do

you have to wait? if not, can we still get visas on arrival (2 UK and 1 Swiss citizens)

also, is it sensible to kas with a baby this young? anything to be concerned about?

thanks ever so much for your help

Evisas are almost "instant". You can still buy your visa on arrival but at a higher cost £20 instead of $20. The only way to maybe reduce the transfer time is to hire a car or book a private taxi transfer.

Hi Kevin289,

why not look at a location much closer to Antalya than the 4 hr drive or bus ride to Kas ?? or break up your journey stopping off in Cirali along the way tıo Kas.

Cirali is 90 minutes from the antalya airport. about 1 hr from tje city center by car.. And it is is 90 minute by bus fro the antalya bus station..

Cirali to Kas by Bus is 2.5 hrs..so if you planned to spend a couple of night in Cirali then head out to Kas that would make it easier than a long journey with a small baby

check out this recently article in the Guardian travel section

Top 10 hotels in Turkey for families

theguardian.com/travel/2014/may/22/top-10-ho…

Cirali is a quiet alternative....stunning beach, lush forests..an idyllic, concrete-free paradise, and sparkling clear seas. The Cirali Beach is also a rare opportunity to visit one of the Med’s few remaining nesting sites for loggerhead turtles.

Cirali tends to draw more families and mature toursits...the hotels and pensions are anywhere from 150m - 750 meters from the beach. All within a 5-10 minute walk.

Also the famous '' Chimaera '' burning mountain is located in the north end of the Cirali village...

This is the Chimaera or Yanartaş as it is know in Turkish .....Yanartaş - The mystical flames at the Chimaera. The Chimaera, a series of flames issuing out of cracks in the bare hillside, is one of the most unusual sites in the whole of Lycia.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yanarta%c5%9f

here is another tip; since you are travelling with a small baby bring a baby carrier ( pouch or back pack style ) as it will also make your travel a bit easier and to visit locatio historical sites..if you are bringing a stroller bring a light fold up kind.

if you arrive to the airport without obtaining the visa before hand it will COST MORE at the airport. please read the link below

mfa.gov.tr/data/…vize-harc-miktarlari-en.pdf

for UK citizens online price is 20 $ which is about 12gbp's

If you arrive at the airport without a visa it will cost 30 $ / 25 € / 20 £

which is 10 dollars higher than the online amount

just get the visa online at the offical turkish government website and dont forget you will need a visa for all travellers including your baby..( all children and infants need a visa as well )

https://www.evisa.gov.tr/en/

dont use copy cat sites that charge more

Wherever you go in Turkey you will be fine with a young baby, all the resorts are very family friendly. You can get all your baby supplies in the supermarkets and people will go out of their way to look after you.

we may fly to dalaman instead, looks a lot closer, and rent a car...dont fancy the bus / taxi with the little one.

anybody got any ideas how much a taxi is from dalaman to pataras?

If you go Çıralı,you can not find anything for your baby. It is not a good idea! Also the flames are not mystical. It is a metan gas! The small bungalow hotels are not definitely for the families with babies..Unfortunately,Olympos became a place for low budget people unless you stay in more expensive real hotels. Be careful before you book any tree house pensiyon there.Olympos is for budget travellers mainly. The food in pensiyons there are not good..The price for a night is so cheap and everyone is drinking beer in hot summer where the temperature is 45 C!
