We first visited Kalkan over 10 years ago and have been back almost every year since. As I'm sure many of you know, the place has seen huge expansion during this time with new villas and apartments spreading up the once enpty hillsides. Despite this, it has always managed to maintain its charm and authenticity, especially in the centre of town.
Our last trip was in August 2010. During this visit we saw, among other things, lasers being projected onto the hills from a newly opened nightclub. This gave us the impression that Kalkan could finally be heading the same way as Bodrum & Marmaris (18-30s, pushy night club reps, loud music, football on TVs everywhere etc etc). We now find ourselves torn between revisiting a place we have enjoyed for many years and being worried that our favourite holiday destination may no longer be the place we fell in love with.
Your honest opinions on these thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
