Kas activities

Hi there!

My husband and I are going to be in the Kas area for 4 nights as part of a longer trip, and would love some suggestions. Here is the sketch so far:

-- Kas, 4 nights --

Friday, 5/31: bus to Kas (stay in town)

Saturday, 6/1: Rent scooter, go to Kaputas, Patara

Sunday, 6/2: boat trip to Kekova

Monday, 6/3: tbd

Tuesday, 6/4: fly to Istanbul

Re: our third/last full day in Kas. What should we do? Slightly silly question, but time is precious. I think we'd like to explore the area a bit within an hour radius, perhaps see a small village, do a little hike, see another historical site...I think we are going to skip Oludeniz and that area completely. It seems Xanthos/Letoon are near Patara. Should we add those sites to the Patara day? We would love suggestions for the tbd day as well as the Patara day. Thanks!

Thanks for advice! Re: the gorge...I imagine rushing freezing water, which does not sound appealing. Why is it a must see? I am not so sure we want to pack so much into one day, but will consider.

Re: the features to see on a kekova boat -- are those typically included on a "sunken city" trip? Are there snorkeling opportunities on that trip?

Can you name some of the towns we might want to stop on the way to/from kekova?

Thanks!!

I agree that it would be better to rent a car for visiting Patara, etc. Maybe start off with Pinara instead of the gorge, and work your way back via Letoon, Xanthos and Patara.

Hi Stoutart, I am afraid that snorkelling or diving is prohibited over the Sunken City so as to protect the remains. You can snorkel elsewhere in the bay though and it is an absolutely beautiful area.

Here are some typical itineries for daily boat trips to and from Kekova. There are several companies offering these, these are just some examples, all are pretty much the same.

These take you there by bus for a look around before the cruise.

This one is boat both ways-

Ergun I'm surprised you don't know the names of the places the boats go/stop at,you being a local lad and all...or is it just that your boat doesn't go that way?

Hi Sarikanarya,

If you read carefully what she asked you can see that she is asking about the name of the villages on the way to Kekova by car not by boat. If you want to know names of the bays by sea I can tell you detailed even with the depths.

Actually no,the OP does not ask about villages on a car journey.

"Re,the features to see on a Kekova boat-are those typically included on a "sunken city" trip? Are there snorkelling opportunities on that trip?

No mention of driving, only of boat trips either from Kaş or from Kekova.I gave examples of both options from various companies.

Good point by Attagul, hence the glass bottom boat is quite handy.Sadly, just like coral reef diving, some people don't respect these precious places :(
