Some general questions about Barut Kemer Resort

Hi we are planning to stay at the Barut Kemer Resort in May 2014 and have a few questions about the area:

- I gather the hotel is about 800 metres from the centre of Kemer - is there much to do in Kemer - we would probably be looking to have an early evening walk about for drinks; would this be a suitable place.

- how easy is it to get to Antalya from Kemer (google maps says its about 49 mins by car) -is it also worth the effort?

- where would be the best place to arrange a boat day trip from Kemer

- where do you get the cable car from to go up Mt Olympus

And of course if anyone has any other useful information about this hotel or the area please do share!!

Thanking you in advance

We too are going in May this year,

As for the boat trips, i spoke to someone last year, and they said book at the harbour, unless you want to book

with your holiday company,

Also as far as i understand the Hotel is under a refurb, and is due to open in April,

Its a new area to us, but so looking forward to May now.

We were in the neighbouring hotel Crystal Deluxe last week. It's a nice area with a small birds zoo and fountains over the road next to the beach, there's a nice walking path that goes from the hotel alongside the beach that goes right down to the marina (takes about 15 mins) has several trip agencies on it that do the boat trips etc, they all do the cable car trip and the usual trips. The main shopping street is off the park next to the marina, four or five bars on the street. . Really recommend you jump a bus to Olympus ruins, or do it as a trip as it's a few changes by bus- well worth it though stunning place.

What sort of prices are the trips? We are particularly interested in the cable car trip, boat trip and possibly a trip to Antalya.

The cable car trip was 90 lira each (about £25), that included the trip there and back, a some food whilst there and the entrance to the cable car. I think there was another stop included, we were slightly out of season though so that may change a bit in season.

Antalya is easily reached by dolmus but make sure you jump on the Antalya Express dolmus stops by the big clock) which goes straight there in around 30 minutes as opposed to the normal Antalya bus which detours quite a bit and takes around 50 minutes. Kaleici (the historical old town Antalya marina) is a further bus but simple to find, or jump a taxi from the Migros 5M in Antalya (ask the driver to let you know).

Yep that's an organised trip with a tour guide. Boat trips ranged from a two hour mid day at £8 each to a full day at around £12 each. Ask if it's a quiet boat or a crazy loud one, one went past us (whilst we were on the beach and I would have paid £20 to get off!)
