hi angela thanks for your reply no luck though with one time maybe its full or just not available.flights to Antalya are booked and we are going to cirali/olympos for the first week and then coming to side for the second.would have stayed at truva family club again as it was very nice but sadly its gone all inc for this season.grr! we prefer a self catering apartment.have been looking now for weeks and it seems to be the same hotels coming up all the time.may be brave and book sunbird apartments its only £60 for 9nights but overbooking seems to be mentioned on reviews.cheaper to book here through travel republic have used them for years with no problems...cheers jon

That's a very good price for Sunbird Apartments - or you could go to Green Apart where they have 2-bed 2-balcony apartments for £175 for the week via email to graham@siderivieraproperties.com Lovely big swimming pool there and only 5 minutes to the beach too - with very pretty gardens -

<<<.flights to Antalya are booked and we are going to cirali/olympos for the first week and then coming to side for the second<<<

Hi Jon,

enjoy your stay in Cirali for the week it will be a nice contrast to the town of Side..any questions for that area ?

Please make sure that you do your research in the difference between Olympos and the neighboring village of Cirali..both share the same beach

turkeytravelplanner.com/go/…index.html

turkeytravelplanner.com/go/…cirali.html

PS...There are always many mix-ups between the village of Cirali and the village ( valley ) of Olympos. Here's a bit of clarification on the subject.

Cirali / Olympos is located approx. 80km southwest from Antalya. It is quiet and peaceful village perfect for families, nature lovers and for those wishing to get away from the mass touristic cities or towns.

First the beach of Olympos ( located in the village of Cirali ) is shared by both villages. There are two entrances to these villages located on the main highway between Antalya -Fethiye.

One entrance (Cirali) will bring you down into the village of after 7kms. Here you can reach the beach by car, mini-bus or by foot. Once on the beach ( 4kms long -secluded - clean ) you can walk into the entrance of the ancient city of Olympos visiting the ruins located on either side of the creek.

The second entrance on the main highway from Antalya is the entrance to the village of Olympos ( 12 kms from the main highway ), Cavus Koy, and Adrasan. Here in this village are more accomodations with treehouses, bugalows, pansiyons and small hotels as well.

Olympos is very famous for the '' treehouses'' and offers a bit of a different lifestyle that Cirali It tends to cater to more younger crowd or students including backpackers and budget accomodations. In Olympos there are more bars and discos where as Cirali caters to a quieter crowd with only a few local bars playing live turkish music.

To reach the beach from Olympos village one must walk through the ancient city of Olympos. Depending on where one is staying the walk to the beach can be a few minutes up to longer ranging from 800m - 3 or 4 kms. Staying in Olympos village to visit the flames at night there are group tours with mini-buses that travel back up to the main highway road ( 12km ) and then after 1 km down into the other entrance (Cirali - another 11kms down ). You can walk if you wish through Olympos and then along the beach for 4kms or more to visit the flames. Don't forget to bring your flashlight as the ancient city has no lights at night.

also another note; there are no ATM's in cirali so be prepared in advance

when in Cirali you will want to ;

1. spend time on the beach

2. visit the vast hidden ruins of Olympos ( which to see many of them properly you will need at least 2 afternoons or 2 mornings ) then spend the rest of the day at the beach

3. take a trip at night to the chimaera ( Yanartaş )..but dont do that on the same day that you visit the Olympos ruins as you will be tired from walking at it is too much in one day..

4. half day for Phaselis ( ruins and beach ) then stop off maybe at Ulupinar on the way back.

5. there are also lovely out of the way places like Kuzdere or Goynuk canyons where you can swim in the icy waterfalls and take a picnic lunch..again at least more than a good part of the day. Or the waterfalls at Ulupinar.

6. Arykanda is a great historical place to visit and is 1.5 hours from Cirali..

7. a boat trip from the beach at Cirali to visit the many hidden coves and beaches..great trip with lunch on the boat..this is an all day trip.

8. many people take a day trip to Demre, Myra and the sunken city of Simena ( Kekova - Ucagiz ) for a day trip from Cirali..

9. during the spring and fall not over the hotter summer months..the weather is nice enough for walking along sections of the Lycian way you can do that as well..have a look in my photos at the flickr link below.

10. rent a car for a few days trips around the area. There is a Dino park, Aerial park ( rope climbing etc ) , Antalya Aquarium and many more..
