World cup

I'm going to side for a week from 9th june staying at the Sunlight Garden. My wife hates football but I hope to see a few world cup matches but do pubs stay open whilst there on because quite a few are late kick offs

Pubs generally stay open until the last customer leaves. I'm sure they will be geared up for late kick offs during the World Cup, so don't think you have much to worry about.

Hello Scottie

Just because you scots are used to not qualifying for world cup finals anymore, doesn't mean other supporters don't want a good time with the high's and low's of our national team !! lol

The Crown bar and restaurant is next door to Sunlight Garden and will be showing the matches - lovely food there too - the best steaks İ have ever had in Side - and they speak English well too -

Kayi's & Korner Restaurants also show Football & would fully expect them to show games during the World Cup. Their food is delicious & they are well known for their fillet steaks.

Also try The Red Lion. We don't eat there, but they always have sport showing, including Wimbledon. Very friendly bunch.

Trebor62

As you know the Scots are realy tight with money and our national team

make sure that they do not qualify for these events to save the fans money.

We prefer to stay at home and laugh our heads off at the English getting

there hopes up only to be dashed again. PMSL

Enjoy your holiday.

Just remembering that gazza goal against the jocks haha

I would like Scotland or Wales to qualify for something, just to take the media pressure of us knowing that we are better than them

Red lion is probably the best venue for the football. Wouldn't bother with the Flying horse though as the atmosphere (for the football) there was rubbish last time I went.
