Cappadocia + Gulet - possible with 11 or 14 days?

Hi. We'd love to combine two Turkish 'must dos' on our bucket list

1) a few days in Cappadocia giving us enough time to explore and do a hot air balloon trip

2) a week on a gulet

Anyone know of a travel company that offers such a multi centre holiday? If not, how easy do you think it would be to arrange direct e.g. flightsin/out of Istanbul and a gulet direct?

Many thanks in advance for any insight.

Yes, you would have time to do those two things.

You can easily fly to Cappadocia independently, travelling via Istanbul ( no direct flights from UK). Which part of the UK do you live in as that would influence your choice of airline? BA, KLM or one of the budget airlines are all possibilities but if you plan to fly straight on to Cappadocia as soon as you arrive, then you should book with THY (Turkish Airlines) as your bags will be checked straight through and you'll be put on the next available flight at no extra cost should the first one be delayed.

You can easily spend at least 4 days in Capp exploring in a number of ways- some walking, hire car, limited public transport and some day tours. Book your tours, transfers and hotel independently for Cap- very easy and you can get plenty advice here. You can then fly or get overnight bus to the coast to join your gulet cruise.

To return home, you can probably find a direct flight to the UK, depending on where you live, or if you need a connection somewhere en route then you need to weigh up the costs/ time of a return THY flight through Ist against another airline.

If you feel you would rather have help planning the logistics and to book the cruise, I'd recommend you contact Turkish Heritage Travel or Reliable Tour - www.reliabletour.com/blue-cruises.html. Either of these companies will offer as much or as little help as you need in organising your visit.

Thanks for all the info! We live just outside London so flights shouldn't be an issue. Would it be best to fly to Call via Istanbul, bus to Bodrum for gulet then a Bodrum flight back to UK? Am guessing Bodrum would be best place to try and organise a gulet.

Thx again.

I'd definitely recommend flying UK to Capp, via istanbul, using THY for the reasons I explained previously, and you could maybe return direct from Dalaman or Antalya, depending which area your cruise is in.

There are cruises from several different places, so you'd have to decide on that before you organise internal travel. I see my previous link didn't work but go to www.reliabletour.com then select Blue Cruises and Yacht Tours from menu on left side of page for some gulet ideas.

Look at Top Questions at the top of this page and you'll see info about flights from Cap to Antalya as there are cruises from this area, too..You'd have to check if there are any flights to Dalaman for Bodrum area (possibly not) but there are overnight buses, I think. For domestic flights check out Pegasus, Onur Air, Atlas Jet.

AltarKartel, 26 posts all recommending the same gulet company was very suspicious. I only had to look at a few to confirm that you are advertising your own company, and that is strictly forbidden by Trip Advisor. Please stop.

We informed us via http://www.reliabletour.com/ and www.bodrumpages.com and found out that it was the best to organize the tripthan ourselves. Cappadocia is easy to go by local busses. The system works stunningly good and the busses are modern and super comfortable. Prices are worth to organize the trip by yourselve. We did a 7 day Gulet trip with www.bluecruise.org starting in Bodrum to the south dodecanese. The best food of the whole trip we got on the boat. The Crew was very friendly - only it was too hot. We will do this cruising definetly again but consider late September or even beginning of October. We were also told to visit Ephesus with the new excavation of the hanging houses but couldn´t manage this year. Looking it up in the web it looks stunning.
