Hi Diane, yes you are quite right - the Swiss Hotel became the D-Resort a couple of years ago. I don't know when you last were there but there are lots of very upmarket houses edging the hotel now, plus some conference centre which has been in the process of construction for a couple of years, but it still looks very much the same to me from the outside. And yes they still own the private beach - this is what it says on their website:

"D-Resort Gocek owns the only beach of Gocek, providing full service as well as snack and beverage options during the day.

Private beach access is free of charge for the guests of D-Resort Gocek. Golf cars service to the beach is available for the resort’s guests."

So sounds like you will still be pampered!

Gocek's a lovely place. Expensive - a bit up-market. D-Resort is a superior hotel with a nice pool. I might suggest Villa Dan Lin as being right in the centre, near restaurants.

A number of new hotels have opened up in Gocek over the past year - The Grand Gocek - which is just near the back of the Sunday market place and the Efe Hotel, also nearby. The Ay Hotel, The Escape (which looks very luxurious) and the Alya Hotel - but these 3 are situated in the foothills of the mountains the other side of the main road so are out of town. The Pruva hotel is central - and I spoke to a British couple staying there who said it was a very nice, small family run hotel. The Unlu hotel is right on the front - no pool though (this is the only hotel we have actually stayed in, and was when it was just a pension before they refurbished it a couple of years ago). The Yagmur is an old favourite with Brits and used to be used by Simply Travel - the rooms are "apartments" with basic cooking facilities, but they have a restaurant (good - we have eaten there with friends who were guests) and a pleasant pool area. Several other "apart hotels" - Nirvana, Gocek Pera Hotel, the Olive Garden. And the Villa Dan Lin as mentioned by Robert.

A further brief update. The Swiss Hotel beach now has imported silver sand. The Pruva Hotel is small, quiet and lovely, run by a delightful young couple, and just one road back from the beach the Sunday Market end of Gocek. The Yagmur built a new block of good quality hotel rooms last year so is no longer apartment only; some feedback that last summer it was noisy in July and August when full of Turkish families with children but quiet at other times.

Hi JanetJohn,

Here is a link to the taxi fares from Dalaman Airport:

atmairport.aero/Dalaman_en/…

(click on where it says taxi fares).

Says it is 35 km, cost 80 TL or £35 - I don't know how up to date the info is, but sounds about right.

Whereabouts are you staying?
