Marmaris....recommendations please??

Hi all :) Were thinking of Marmaris for next years hol, but have never been to Turkey before. Ive read through top questions but just wanted to post what we would like from a hol and see if people advise us firstly if Marmaris is for us and also if there are any must stay hotels/apartments. So, firstly, we usually frequent Sunny Beach, Bulgaria and have heard Marmaris is similar. If it is, great, if its not, great!! Not sure whether to go for AI as we usually do (due to us being completely lazy during the day and not moving from the pool) but have found it very expensive due to my daughter being 14 next year and having to pay adults prices on AI. B&B or self catering is an option, is there plenty of supermarkets/snack bars around the resort? What are the hotels like about bringing your own food/drink in? Recommendations for places to stay within 60/90 mins from the airport and near the beach and centre (without being noisy) are welcomed :) Is there many activities to do? Any waterparks? And finally, we would be visiting mid august (I know this can vary the opinions of places to stay) So hopefully someone out there can recommend a hotel, because there seem to be MILLIONS out there and from experience, I don't take reviews on TA too seriously, unless they are very very bad!! Thanks in advance :)

Hello & welcome to the Marmaris forum

I have always gone Bed & Breakfast or Self Catering when staying in Marmaris, it gives you total freedom to get out and about the resort, eat when you want and where you want. There is so much to see in Marmaris and the surrounding area's

Supermarkets - In the resort you have mini-supermarkets everywhere and you have the large Supermarkets like Migros & Kipa (Tesco's) which are great places to stock up for a Self Catering holiday.

Acivities - the Trips / Excursions on offer are excellent value for money, Turkish Bath, Jeep Safari, Water Parks, Lazy Day Boat Trips, Horse Safari, Quad Safari, Fishing, Cleopatra Island, Traditional Turkish Night, Dalyan Boat Trip (turtle beach / mud baths), day trips to Ephesus, Pamukkale or Rhodes,to name a few. Also you have kiosks along the beachfront that offer the Water Sport activities, Jet Ski, Parasailing etc. The resort has three Water Parks, the main two are Atlantis (on the beach front) and Aqua Dream (on the hill overlooking the Bay of Marmaris) and you also have a small Water Park in the Siteler area

Transfer time to the resort - depending if you get a Private Transfer or Transfer Coach. A Private Transfer will take approx 1 hr 10 mins and a Transfer Coach can take anything between 1 hr 30 mins to 2 hours plus. it all depends on if the Transfer Coach is waiting for connecting flights, people arriving without a e-Visa and need to apply, stragglers at the Airport, comfort stop and how many stop-offs there is before your Hotel.

Places to stay - The three main area's for Hotel's / Apartments are the Siteler area, Armutalan area and Central Marmaris. It is very easy to get around the resort, the resort has a dolmus system (local bus service) that covers all area's of the resort, each area is colour coded (white with a different coloured stripe) very cheap and they run frequently.

All Inclusive:

Julian Club, Club Alize, Green Nature Resort & Spa, Grand Ideal Premium, Grand Cettia Hotel, Grand Pasa Hotel

Self Catering (some places offer upgrades to half-board)

Club Aida, Club Turquoise, Club Atrium, Sun Apartments, Club Sunsmile, Club Evin, Club Anastasia, Club Exelsior, Club Ilayda, Club Cettia, Club Candan, T & G Apartments, Kibele Apartments, Atlantis Apartments, Ekin Apartments, Club Amaris, Club Ako Apartments, Club Likya Apartments, Ayhan Apartments, Club Alpina, Amphi Apartments
