Eating dilema's/Food options

Hi all

We are going in august for the 1st time. I have read thier are tons of places to eat out should we wish, however my partner doesn't eat chicken or any type of fish inc seafood. Obviously being a Muslim country we have to rule pork out also....so all that being said can he still dine out and enjoy the food?

I have read they serve alot of kebabs and having been to a turkish restaurants here notice they serve grilled meats a lot...do they do things in gravy/sauce, or casserole type dishes or spicy food?

Thanks in advance.....

He can try Adana kebab or urfa kebab, meat casserole (guveç), vegetarian dishes, pasta, baked potatoes full of loads of things. I don't think he will be going hungry :)

Does your partner like lamb? Lamb is plentiful in resort and available in almost every restaurant cooked in a variety of different ways, sometimes grilled, baked, slow roasted or in a casserole type dish. The lamb tandir is one of my favourite dishes. Steaks are available more or less everywhere as well as things like curry, pizza and pasta dishes. There's no shortage of options really.

There are as many food options in Marmaris as you would find in the UK

Hi cantwaitformehol,

It is a misnomer that there are no pork products in Turkey.

In fact many restaurants do english and Scottish breakfasts which contain pork sausages and bacon!

Unless you are going A/I there is a huge choice of both beef and lamb dishes.

Kebabs are also a surprise as many are actually what we would call casseroles! For example the Tsti kebab which is lamb cooked in a sealed earthenware jug, which is broken open at your table.

One of my favourites is lamb Tandir which is similar to the Greek dish cleftico and is usually made from lamb shank slowly cooked in the oven.
