Thank You , Forum Marmarites !

Having had a wonderful stay at the Club Alize recently.

I wish to thank all those on here who helped me.

I was able to find places we wanted to go to a lot easier and quicker after getting information here.

In fact, the information turned out to be such, I thought I had already been ;-)

And certainly felt at "home" when we got there.

We found our way around no bother after researching and getting answers on the forum

Bars ,restaurants, bus routes etc I asked about It all turned out to be a doddle ;-)

Stress free, if you know what I mean.

It was our first visit to Marmaris (not Turkey though)

Will we return to Marmaris ?

Indeed and hopefully with all the family in tow !

Looking at next spring ,if family members can organise time off.

Not only was staying at the Alize enjoyable

We had the bonus of Cousins Bar on the doorstep !

Regards and thanks again

Thanks Steve

Yes indeed, you did help a lot

Ah couldnae name everybody -)

Ovacik, Hisaronu we have enjoyed .

But we spent a fortune on taxis there.

Marmaris we found a bit easier to get around.

The Club Alize is a cracking hotel.

Although All inclusive, we were out and about most days being newbies to the town

Down in the shopping arcades and round about bar street, the Marina etc

The whole shebang, really. Took in as much as we could.

No getting any younger Both in our early sixties

Doubt we would have done so much had it been hotter, though

Icmeler too a couple of times on the bus.

The Dolmus service is really good

Marmaris exceeded our expectations,Steve

Confession to make

Ah still didnae get ma Scottish breakfast at the White Lion;-)

Plenty Efes though

Next time;)

Oh and the BOGOF cocktails at Cousins arnae too bad either !

Thanks Alan

Yes like Steve ,you were prompt also in responding and very helpful to me.

It is always nice to get recognised isn't it ?

(Tunisia forum veteran me as may have noticed ;-)

Steve

The long flight and transfer did knock the stuffing out us a wee bit for the first day or two

(After recent major surgery too)

We kinda knew after a day or three ,we would probably return to Marmaris, Inshallah.

So the 10 full days we were there used to familiarise ourselves with both Marmaris and surrounding areas Icmeler for example

Which will be helpful If we return with the family members we have already asked next April or May.

They haven't been to Marmaris .So my limited knowledge from this trip will be a start.

We did consider some of the boat trips that are famous on these forums.

Something else always came up as it does.

Will be better armed and informed next time .

PS

One "trip" I did do was the barbers ;-)

Head shaved( or scraped) regular shave, ears burnt, nose singed as well as face mask ;-)

I looked like Yul Brynner ;-) well a wee bit !

Barber had also done my wife's hair I a new style.

I had haggled a few quid off his first price .

But he did such a good job (the wife said) I gave him the odds ,as a tip .

He then offered me a free shave ( I paid him anyway)

Glad you had a good time Mick. Have you given up on Tunisia now in favour of Marmaris.

When you go back be sure to visit Turunc. We visited for the first time this year and loved it.

I have a great affection for Tunisia, yvonne

Its so different though and its a love or hate it place.

And of course a very poor country

I know it blindfolded now ;-) Well, the popular resorts. anyway

But i do love Turkey and the people.

I try a bit of Arabic in the bars as well as Turkish

That goes down well !

4 visits over the years ,the ones mentioned and Belek a number of years ago

Yes I will have a better plan for next visit

Members of our family have been to Hisaronu and the surrounding resorts. But not Marmaris

Given medical conditions its not easy for us these days to do 3 day camel hike, for example

So any trips would need to be pretty short journeys from our base . If you get my meaning.

We were so far up the mountain in Ovacik and Hisaronu

I had to duck when the paragliders passed over.

Hence getting taxis all the time back up the hill from bar Street/resorts

Ethiopian marathon runners wont train there ...Its too tough

Stunning though ! Amazing scenery

I know it may sound trivial

But what made our holiday easier in Marmaris was the great dolmus service

Bus stopped outside the hotel. Well anywhere as you well know

That got us around .A major plus factor for us oldies.

I will be back next year, by hook or by crook !

Off to football practice now ;-)

PS

I will check out Turunc ;-)

Likely April

My "Family to Turkey" plan has only got a wee window ;-)

My daughter is a nurse her husband a fire fighter and one of the bairns still at School

However ,if I take ill

Daughter will come to my aid

And if I burn myself falling asleep with a cig

My son in law will put me out ;-)

And there is another 3 family members wanting to go as well !!

Its my charisma. ....Must be !

They will know soon hopefully dates they can get off

So have to wait till then

Mick

PS

Another story

We were having a wee drink one afternoon in the Centre near that bench that has the 2 statues sitting on it

The wee café wae the budgies;-)

My wife went into the café toilet to try on a top she bought

She was back at the table about 10 minutes

All of a sudden she said "Wheres ma handbag ?

Aw Naw !!!

Aye you got it. She left in the toilet

Luckily the café wisnae busy and she got it

All that for 2 bob top !

Phew !!
