Currently have around 16 bites that have reacted quite badly in the last few days! Even my friend and her family who live here have been eaten alive too!

Would say if you're prone to bites or you usually react, no harm in a little bit of repellent!

If you're prone to being bitten anywhere else in the world (ie you have "sweet" blood as the Italians would say,) then, yes, you'll be bitten here, in any of the Emirates, just as you'd be bitten anywhere else in the world where mozzies are to be found. Just bring a good insect repellent (or buy one here) and you'll be fine.

I've got "sweet" blood and have lived here for over two years without any problems.

Hope this helps!
