Cua Dai Hotel questions

Hi everyone,

Just need some help here - we are thinking of staying at the Cua Dai for a couple of nights in December. We are 2 40 yo women travelling with 3 teenagers. Will need a double & a triple room.

We like the look of the rooms that open out onto the pool area, which I guess are the deluxe rooms. We are happy to go with these, as the price difference between standard & deluxe is only $15.

If anyone has stayed here, can you tell us, is this hotel handy for walking into the town area? Has it suffered from flood damage?

The other question is, the receptionist asked for a credit card number to confirm the booking - I'm not keen on giving it out over the net - has anyone else done this with Cua Dai Hotel?

Thanks.

betska2,

Best rooms at Cua Dai are Pool-view rooms. Cua Dai hotel is located in Cua Dai street, in walking distance to Old town. Most of hotel are damaged in flood recently. But don't worried, everything will be fine by Dec. Don't worry to provide them your credit card detail to confirm your booking, they asked to make sure you will stay at their hotel as your booking. If you worry about that, you can find some good travel agencies which have better price and pay online.

Don't miss the trip to Cham island when you are there.

Hope this help!

Hi, we're staying at Cua Dai for the moment and it is Great! Go for the deluxe rooms with a pool view. Location wise it is only 7 minutes walk from the town, and a bit further from the beach.

Nice big rooms and clean, good service.

Have a nice trip!

We are staying at the Cua Dai Hotel for 3 nts from 10th November. Have booked a ground floor room with door opening onto to verandah overlooking the pool? They called it deluxe.

Will post comments after our stay.

My experience to date dealing with them by email has been very positive. They did have some problems during the floods - not sure of the extent - but have been told everything is back to normal now.

Their reviews are very good on TA.

Happy planning!!!

We stayed there in June and had a deluxe room which went straight onto the pool- fantastic!

The whole stay was fabulous, easy to hire a push bike outside to explore further afield which we did a few times, a slow 10 mins walk into the main town but plenty of options closer by.

Can;t recommend them highly enough

I have just left Cua Dai after one night and cannot recommend them at all. We stayed in room 112 and had to move at 11.30pm at night due to a termite infestation in our bedhead. There is extensive water damage, and the cupboards in the bedroom are unusuable due to mould and water damage.

They then moved us to room 109 which was full of mould and water damage. It appears that they have done a really quick patch up job of the flood damage and unless they close the ground floor rooms for extensive repairs the problem will continue to worsen..

The rooms smelt really mouldy and due to the flooding we gave them some leaway, but once we realised the damage to the woodwork. the mould on the ceiling and walls and the termite problem we moved... it just isnt good enough considering what else is in that price category!

We are now at Southern Hotel and Villas for same price and its great... their family villas would be perfect for what you want as they are two interconnecting rooms.. the rooms at Cua Dai (problems aside) would be too small for 5 people... Otherwise try Ha An.. that was another choice when we moved but they were booked out..

The money you pay for Southern would be about $100 a night I think unless you can get a deal but incl a really good breakfast and the villas are much more spacious (you would have 2 bathrooms as opposed to one!)

Feel free to contact me privately for photos of Cua Dai damage

Further to my post... There are 4 ground floor deluxe rooms that overlook the pool with balconies... Our room 112 was one of them... Room 109 was a ground floor standard...

If you are on the top floor I imagine it might be a different experience, however the mould/termites on the ground floor are unacceptable..

The walls had paint peeling off up to the flood line as well as mould, there was extensive mould behind the headboard and the cupboards were water damaged, mouldy and rotting.

Thanks for all of the replies.

Just to update everyone, we did stay here for 3 nights in December. We had 2 rooms opening out onto the pool area (112 & 113???). There was no evidence of flood damage, and no bad smells. There was a notice in the room apologising for any damage though.

We really enjoyed our stay there - the staff were very friendly, even changing our towels half-way thru the day, we asked for a mozzy net for the single bed in the lounge room, and they hooked something up straight away for us. We even got invited by the manager to his daughter's 18th birthday party, plenty of very nice food & grog, very nice that they asked all of the hotel guests along.

Our only complaint was that it was a good 10-15 minute walk from the old town, a bit tiring for us oldies!
