My recommendation is to forget Forget Me Not in the Cloth Market in HoiAn as a tailor. She is very pushy. She will talk you into things that you do not want. Perhaps she is a good tailor herself, but she had another women sew the 8 pairs of women's pants and 2 blouses that my friend and I ordered and the workmanship was shoddy. She did not accept criticism well. There have to be lots of other tailors that you can use to get better quality at the same price.

I've to second this. She can get a little aggressive at times. I had a few items to make, some from images and some pieces I wanted to duplicated. After placing a couple of orders, she insisted that she wanted to make one of the dress that I got out of a magazine. When I refused since her quote was on the high side, and told her it's ok I won't be making this dress, her face became 'black'. We got into quite a bit of a bargain where we finally settled on a price. She also made sure she stuffed the pieces that I brought to be duplicated behind her back, as if to make sure that I couldn't take it back if I wanted to until we reach a deal.

The worst experience with her was when she delivered the clothes to the hotel on my very last day, an hour before I was due to catch a taxi to the airport. I specifically listed out a handful of colours for her to choose from in case the colours I wanted was not available, yet she made the dress in a hideous colour which for sure I wouldn't have chosen. I refused to pay for that dress for but she became all worked up and threatened to take away the whole bag of orders I've placed. If not that I had already placed a significant deposit and I had a plane to catch I wouldn't have given in. From the exchange that took place the day before, I suspect that she couldn't find supply of the colours of my choice but because of the high margin she's probably making from this dress design, she intentionally carried on with a the dress in a colour that I remember specifically telling her that I didn't want.

I don't think she's as 'pitiful' as some reviews make her out to be. But in trying to be more objective, she offers better value than some of the other tailors I've tried, in terms of the worksmanship and price. However, not a pleasant lady to deal with if you're placing orders for a few pieces. Giving her the benefit of the doubt, perhaps I could squeeze and excuse of culture and survival for her poor attitude. But for ethics alone, I definitely wouldn't recommend her.

I have to agree. I researched tailors in Hoi An before I arrived and read an article recommending her. I took a dress for her to copy and she was very pushy trying to get me to order more, when I refused she cried and told me a sob story of how hard it is for her. The dress was a simple copy and in the end took a week. Everyday I went to collect it she was really busy with huge orders, and everyday I got a more extreme excuse as to why it wasn't ready.

All in it's not a pleasant shopping experience, she is obviously doing very well off the back of an article written about her some time ago.

There are so many tailors in Hoi An, I'd recommend shopping around for a bit and finding someone that is a little more honest.

We were in Hoi an 2 weeks ago and got our suits made by a tailor called Mr. Z's. He was not in the market but only about 5 minute walk from there.

The suits were great $120 aus for men and $130 for women 3 pieces. But be warned we went back 5 times till it was perfect. His doing not ours. So do it the first day you there.Well worth it and we went there because we got great feed back from this site. The suits were awesome when finished. I also got business shirts made for $17 aus. Might be a bit dearer but you don’t get hassled and they keep you size on file for 5 years.

I had a couple of pairs of pants made by her, along with a couple of shirts in April this year. She got into a screaming match with her neighbour, which made me very uncomfortable. The pants were fine but the shirts left something to be desired. I wouldn't go back to her.

I am surprised by this experience. We have been to Hoi An twice and stumbled upon Forget Me Not. We have since sent 6 friends and all of us have had a fantastic experience. Great value and quality. We have had lots made and are extremely happy.

Be careful you are not going to the wrong person. There is another person in the market who calls herself Forget Me Not. Our friend nearly went to her by mistake.

To find Forget me Not, Go to the Cloth Market, walk down the left hand side and about the 4th or 5th area in (it is shop No 20, NGOC HEIN).

Say hello to her from Chris and Maria. We still get stuff made by her. We just send photos from Australia and she sends them back. Always honest. If we are not happy she says to send them back (we have never had to do that).

Thanks CGW maybe it was a fake Forget me not, so now with the address people can seek out the real lady. the Vietnamese have a habit of stealing other peoples companies.

The simple solution to this is to get your clothes made in a place where tailors actually know what they're doing, rather than jumping on a popular tourist bandwagon & copying their neighbours. Tailors in Saigon or Hanoi (or even better, Bangkok if you're passing through) are generally a lot more professional than the cowboys in Hoi An.

Way too true. BUT I always look at the posters amount of posts to also know the credibility.

I am going to go with my gut and will be posting how I go. I met her today and to be honest, I complimented her on her hair as I walking past her.. The big sign was on the left and she was the only one not trying to grab my arm to make me buy.
