Tailoring for women?

cHeading out on honeymoon to Vietnam in a couple of weeks and just doing a bit of research on hoi an tailors

trouble is that most of the top ones seem to be geared for men! so just wanted to know recommendations for women's tailors for evening dresses etc?

(whole holiday is a surprise for the mrs... she's a bit of a fashionista and told her to cut pics of dresses out of magazines... she hasn't got a clue why though!!)

This page has pretty much all the major ones. I'm sure all of them do nice women's dresses. Yaly is the best one in my opinion.

We went to Bebe clothshop and had a fantastic experience - I didn't get any evening dresses made, but I got a number of dresses, skirts and jackets made for both work and casual wear. I'm extremely happy with everything I brought home with me. They have many catalogues to choose from but I took pictures with me to be copied. There was one dress that i was not happy with at my final fitting (because it was not exactly what I had wanted due to Bebe not having the exact lace I liked, not because the workmanship or dress itself was bad) and they refunded me my $ then and there. My fiancé also had suits, shirts and a jacket made which are also great and he has had many comments on them.

I don't know if they're the best but certainly Yali has a good reputation, they have a few shops so you can't miss them.

Our friends went to Tina's opposite the Hoian Historic hotel and are thoroughly pleased with their garments. The ladies had dresses, skirts tops etc and the men had shorts, suit and shirts made. The boys had sports clothing made from copies brought from home. Also very pleased with the prices.

I thoroughly recommend this shop, you can find her on Facebook as Tina & Tony.

I went to Thien Thi in Phan Boi Chau and would NOT recommend them.

The dress they made I am still adjusting ,Luckily I can sew. I wish I has said not to hem it as they made it shorter than asked and no allowance to let down with hindsight I should have asked them to leave an extra 10 cm and then got them to pin when I went for the fitting. Plus thay made a couple of snags when unpicking and redoing the seams, which I did not see til my return.

My advice with tailors as well as the hem , don't listen to the flattery of how good you look, insist on changes to suit you. They always make big seams so can be adjusted. Finally check over VERY carefully inside and out before you pay.
