I'm unclear on when the rainy season really stars in Hoi An. Will the weather be okay from August 27th to 30th?
I doubt NASA could tell you that until mid-August. :)
Last year August had many rain-free days with thunderstorms several days in the last week. Temperatures were in the high 90s and so was the humidity. This year - who can tell at this stage? Tropical storms some years have come in August.
It's Typhoon time so you can only get reliable forecast for 3 days on tropicalstormrisk.com/tracker/dynamic/main.h…
Generally in late August days are hot and very humid, in the evenings around dusk the thunder storms come, quite often they don't get as far as Hoi An, leaving an electric storm over the mountains surrounding the area that you can watch from the beach. Rain usually comes in the night and can be heavy.
As the above posters say, it's impossible to predict the weather exactly, but the autumn festival in mid September usually stands as a marker for the real monsoon and typhoon season. If the rice has not been harvested, you are usually OK.
