6/7 days travelling to Japan.

Hello.

My husband & I are planning for a 6 or 7 days to Japan in October this year. We are taking flight from Kuala Lumpur (KL) to Nagoya.

We are on a budget tour, and plan to maximize the trip to include Tokyo, Kyoto & Osaka.

Can someone advise us on the route, and the best way of traveling.

Thank you in advance.

Regards,

With such a short trip, it would be best to fly open-jaw - in to Osaka and out from kyoto, or vice versa. Assuming no amusement park trips, you might stay do 2 nights in Tokyo and 4 in Kyoto - visit Osaka in the late aftenoon/evening after a day trip to Nara.

Nagoya doesn't make the most sense for your itinerary.

If you have already bought the air tickets, check this kintetsu.co.jp/foreigh/…rpw1.html

Kyoto to Tokyo by shinkansen is ¥13320 161 mins, Tokyo to Nagoya ¥10780 101 mins.

If you fly into Nagoya, you should stay for a day at least. Too much for 7 days to visit Tokyo and Osaka/Kyoto if you are aiming a budget tour.

That's a short time to squeeze in Kyoto, Osaka and Tokyo though.

It will be a pretty rushed trip.

Why not skip Tokyo this time, and just do Osaka and Kyoto?

Assuming you are flying in/out Nagoya, you could do this:

(Get the 5 days Kintetsu Rail Pass for Day 1 to Day 5: http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2357_006.html)

Day 1: Arrival at Nagoya. Stay at Nagoya.

Day 2: Take Ltd Exp Kintetsu train from Nagoya to Osaka's Namba station. Visit Osaka. Stay at Osaka.

Day 3: Visit Nara. Stay at Osaka.

Day 4: Osaka to Kyoto. Visit Kyoto. Stay at Kyoto.

Day 5: Visit Kyoto in the daytime. Then take early evening Kintetsu train from Kyoto to KintetsuNagoya station (transfer at Yamatoyagi station). About 3hrs train journey. Stay at Nagoya.

Day 6: Visit Nagoya. Stay at Nagoya.

Day 7: Fly out of Nagoya.
