Tokyo to Hokkaido end September

I'm planning to do a short trip to Hokkaido.

Does anyone know if the 7day JR pass covers the trip from Tokyo to Hokkaido?? And does it cover the night train?

Also, can JR pass be used on Hokkaido trains?

ANy comments on this:

26(Sat) Tokyo

27(Sun) Train to Hokkaido? (night train)

28(Mon) Hakodate

29(Tues) Sapporo

30(Wed) Sapporo

1(Thurs) Noribetsa

2(Fri) Lake Toya

3(Sat) Train back to Tokyo

4(Sun) Tokyo, night flight back home

Hi there

Yes, the JR Pass can be used on any JR trains in Japan . You can use the night train, but for a sleeping berth or a reserved seat you have to pay extra...have a look at the JR site...I think 2 months in advance you can reserve on the website.

Use in Hokkaido too. (we are very independent up here...but we are still Japan!!!)

Your plan looks good.

Noboribetsu and Lake Toya are very near eachother, so its an easy travelling day and you'll have time to do things there...

PS just one thing about JR pass, as long as you get ON the train within the pass's time frame...it doesn't matter if the end of your journey is OUT of the time frame. Staff check your tickets on the trains.
