Land Tour For Hokkaido

Hi, we are planning to go Hokkaido by end of September 2014 for about 8/9 days, only 2 of us, and is our first time.

Can anyone help to recommend a reasonable and reliable agency for us to book the land tour? As we are using redemption points for the air ticket.

Why not do it on your own and at your own pace?

Yes - I promise you - you don't need a tour and a guide. Many people come here on holiday and there is LOTS of information.

At Sapporo Station there is a large tourist office with info in many languages and friendly staff.

End of September is the season when you can enjoy autumn colors.

I suggest.

Sapporo and Otaru - maybe 2 nights.

Asahikawa or Sounkyou for 2 night - go up the Daisetsu Mountains and see autumn colors. Asahikawa Zoo etc. If the weather is good you can visit the farm area in Biei - bike tour or take a local taxi.

Then down to Noboribetsu or Lake Toya for 2 more nights.

Or - you can go down to Hakodate area...

Promise you - you don't need a tour and guide. Very safe area and lots of information. Easy to travel. Book your hotels online.

Not really any special hotel recommendations - Sapporo and Hakodate are big cities with a wide range of hotels and many of them have online information. At Hakodate it is good to stay in Yunokawa Onsen - a suburb of the city, because that is the onsen hotels.

Noboribetsu - the BIG hotel is Daiichi Takimoto-kan - a huge place with many baths, but favored by big tour groups and kind of noisy. If you stay at a small er hotel it is quieter - and you can go into the big hotel as a day visitor to use their big baths.

In Otaru - The Authent HOtel is city center, Hotel Sonia is popular and the Furukawa has an old world feel, but it's a modern building. Out by the Aquarium is the Neuschloss - kind of fake European style, but the onsen has great views over the sea.

Asahikawa - not really a pretty city to stay in...just anywhere that is convenient and easy to find.
