Basic question on JR pass

Hello,

after being in Japan this year in April, I'm planning my next trip there around Easter 2013 (late March/early April). Last time I didn't need a JR weekly pass, but this time I'm planning on getting it.

One very basic point I'd need to clarify is: if my pass is still valid for a day or two after I arrive in Tokyo from Kyoto, can I also use it for those JR lines that are integrated into Tokyo's urban transport network (e.g. Yamanote line, Chuo line)? It is already clear to me that it cannot be used on subway or othe non-JR railway lines (Tobu, Keio, Odakyu, ...).

Thanks

You can use your pass with any JR Line trains including Yamanote, Chuo, etc., as long as your pass is active.

Thank you Shibuyakko, that's exactly how I thought it would work (but I preferred to ask, to be on the safe side).

Cheers
