Nexus 4 Voice and Data - SIM Card available?

Hi,

I've seen the question gone around, but not directly answered.

1) Does the possibility exist to acquire a SIM card for an unlocked Google (LG) Nexus 4 Android telephone (smartphone) which provides both voice AND data in Japan?

[Some posters have shown that Data only service is available via b-mobile]

http://www.bmobile.ne.jp/english/14days.html

2) If yes, who provides it (link???)?

Prepaid SIM card with voice service (alone or with data) cannot be legally purchased and activated by temporary visitors. This has been posted numerous times.

Visitor B-Mobile products have very slow speeds and VOIP is extremely unreliable lately.

@bibimbob,

Thank-you, but at the b-mobile link I provided above you'll see "b-mobile VISITOR SIM 14Days Prepaid" which is contrary to your assertion that "SIM card with voice service (alone or with data) cannot be legally purchased and activated by temporary visitors."

B Mobile is only data service provider open to traveller. Data means internet connection only, but you can use LINE or Skype if you wish. I think that is good enough for us.

But it dint mention whether the B mobile sim is transferable. I will visit Japan at end of this month, for just 7 days, so I am thinking how can i share the sim card with other traveller, for the second half of the 14days limit.

Please tell me where on the B-mobile website, official publication, documentation does it say Voice service is supported?

On the other hand, from the official website http://www.bmobile.ne.jp/english/1gb_faq.html

11. Can I use the product for phone calls?

b-mobile SIM is a data communication only product. You cannot use it to make phone calls.

@bibimbob,

Yes, b-mobile offers data only visitor SIM. This is why I asked my question.

Check out econnect japan. Way better pricing than mobile.

B-Mobile 3980 free shipping

e-Connect 4100 + 790 shipping = 4890

Maybe I'm not reading the website right but Bmobile is 14 days for 1gb while econnect Japan is 31 days for 1gb.

B-Mobile 1 GB 30 days 3100 shipped. http://www.bmobile.ne.jp/l_1gb/index.html

That means as long as you spend less than 4890 - 3100 = 1790 on a rental phone to activate that card, you are still better off with B-Mobile.

Never saw this part of the site before. Unfortunately I don't read Japanese. Are these for visitor sims? According to the Q&A on the site it only mentions 14 days: http://www.bmobile.ne.jp/english/1gb_faq.html

What am I missing?
