Manga Cafe/Manga Kissa Recos - Shinjuku,Akihabara,or Shibuya

Hi TAs,

I'll be based in Osaka for a few days but planning a 2-night side trip to Tokyo. Can anyone recommend a manga cafe that they've personally stayed in and found quite nice (aka clean, VERY near a train station, relatively comfortable)?

I'd prefer one with a ladies-only floor but I'm also open to ones that accept women (do all manga cafes do so?).

Thanks!

PS: My knowledge of Japan is pretty rudimentary right now, and I know some of you will feel that my time will be better spent exploring areas just as interesting (or even more so) nearer Osaka, but I hope you'll still indulge me and offer up suggestions.

What are you going to do in an internet cafe? I hope you're not thinking about spending a night. Sounds like you're confusing internet cafes and capsule hotels.

Internet cafes and capsules are a mixed bag. Some are nasty and dirty whereas others are more proper and okay. Some internet/manga function as shelter for semi-homeless people whereas others napping places for tired businesspersons, including young female office workers, especially around lunchtime. When I get stuck with my work, I sometimes go to one of them with work materials in suitcase, and use the box as a temporary office, as electricity plug and free drinks are provided, all major newspapers and magazines can be read, massage chair is optional, and photocopy machine/printer can be used. So it might not be so awful as it sounds to be (but it is true you'd find slightly more weirdos than you are used to, as in Walmart store in US).

I don't recommend staying in manga cafe longer than needed for the first train to run in the morning. But if you want to see how it is, i-Cafe Akiba Place (8th Floor of Akihabara) might be recommended.

i-Cafe Akiba Place (8th Floor of Akihabara Place building, on ground floor you'd see Excelsior Cafe). You need ID for membership to enter (counter-measure against crimes, including internet crimes like fraud, child-porn, posting threats).

Hi everyone, I'm neck-deep planning my trip and will be spending 1 night in First Cabin Akihabara. I was originally intending to crash at a manga kissa since I'll be in Tokyo for just a short time, but changed my mind when I saw First Cabin.

Thank you for shedding more light on the difference between these two.
