accomodation advance planning

i am going to japan on april 2, for 14 nights

as a backpacker.

usually i never book hotels, and i book online as per my choice,

because if i dont like a city, i leave it for another, and thats how i enjoy my stay ..

now i have heard that its difficult to get hotels in japan without advance booking.

can someone guide me on this

thanks

Accommodation is running out fast in Tokyo, do book at japanican.com cos I realise they give better rates.

I'm not sure what Nao's response has to do with your question.

Assuming you're flexible with hotel/hostel choices and are not traveling during a peak travel time, you should be OK with short notice hotel bookings.

I agree with Dave148 that you should be okay since it is sort of off-peak period. At worst or best, you can try capsule hotel for experience or curiosity.

Well, the first 1/2 part of the op's stay is during Japanese schools' spring break AND cherry blossom season, so I don't think it's hardly an off-peak season.

Early April is definitely peak season. I wouldn't chance it in Japan where English level is spotty. It will be difficult to call up just any hotel, ryokan or hostel and expect them to respond in English on-the-spot.

Look online for Jalan, Rakuten, Toyoko Inn, and Dormy Inn English sites so in case you decide to be flexible, you know where to look.

Here's a good website that might help if you're looking for a hotel and do not speak Japanese.

gauravjalan,

It is easy to find hotels at reasonable fare for your staying in Tokyo. If you give me fare range per night, and location of the hotel, I can give you an idea. I am running bike tour company in Saitama, half an away from Shinjuku. If you are interested in our bike tour also, please let me know.
