Mt. Fuji tour cancelled

Our tour to Mt. Fuji scheduled for tomorrow has been cancelled due to weather. It seems the area has still not recovered from last weeks snow storm. Does anyone have a recommendation on how we might be able to see Mt. Fuji in the next two days? We would be happy to take a train and view it from afar.

A trip to Hakone is the usual way to get views of Fuji, although I have been three times and saw nothing due to the weather. Forecast is good for the next day or two so you should be lucky. In clear weather you can also see Fuji from some tall buildings in Tokyo. For example, I have seen it from the higher floors of the New Otani Hotel. If you asked at reception for a restaurant table with a view of Fuji I am sure they would oblige, although it wouldn't be cheap.

Weather permitting, you might get a distant view from Tocho--The Tokyo Metro. Gov't Building: http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e3011_tocho.html Even if you can't see the mountain, you will get an appreciation for the extent of the urban sprawl.

Are you, by any chance, going to Kyoto or Osaka? Look out the right window, about 45-55 minutes after leaving Tokyo Station, not long after the train exits a series of tunnels. Given the uncertainty of the weather, it's not worth doing this just to see the mountain.
