21 Hour Layover In Tokyo (NRT)

Hi Everyone!

I have a 21 hour layover in Tokyo at the Narita Airport en route from Chicago to Jakarta.

My flight arrives at NRT at 8:45PM on a Sunday, and leaves the next day at 5:40PM.

My question is, do I have enough time to get into the city and see any sights? Or are there are any things that are equally amazing closer to the airport?

I am seeing on Google Maps that it's about a 2 hour train ride from NRT to Tokyo. Perhaps it would be easier to get a taxi, unless that's really expensive?

Also, I am a USA citizen/passport holder, it's my understanding I don't need a visa to enter Japan, correct?

You do have time for a visit. You do not want to take a taxi between NRT & Tokyo. Extremely expensive.

if u like sushi, on the way to the city on the keisei line, there is a train station called keisei tateishi. right next to the train station there is a good stand-up sushi place, sakae sushi. fantastic shellfish sushi like mirugai, akagai, kaki, etc, fish on the other hand is not that good. and really cheap too.

Narita Airport will have new 9 hours (capsule) hotel starting July 20.

They will hold the luggage for the day after you check out. Also women only floor, too but check for this new place.
