My fiance and I want to visit Tokyo for our honeymoon

We both love the "otaku" lifestyle and we also want to see shrines and temples. We are in our late 20's early 30's and just want to be immersed in the culture. Where should we stay, what should we see? We def want to stay in a capsule for one night! Thanks for your time!

What is the expected duration of your trip? Tokyo is not the best place to see temples and shrines, although Sensoji Temple and Meiji Shrine are good.

Here's a good guide for Tokyo - http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e3051.html

I don't want to assume what you mean by otaku, but Akihabara would likely be the place you'd want to check out. Shinjuku is a popular place to stay, with a vibrant nightlife, but Tokyo is quite spread out, so you don't need to worry too much about it since you'll move around a lot anyway.

For a 4-day trip you might consider a day trip to Kamakura, which has a lot more historic religious sites than Tokyo.

Short trip - or are you going elsewhere? Is Tokyo your only Japan destination?

Capsule, really?

What is your budget?

Are you interested in Japanese style tatami rooms? ryokans?

We both REALLY wanna try the capsule. Akihabara is one of the places we really wanted to go too. Not sure on the budget as of yet. We just want to see all we can in our short time

If you want, you can even stay at Akihabara itself. There are many hotels in the area, mostly the budget to mid-tier business hotels. Dormy Inn has a public bath where you can enjoy a soak.

Capsule hotel is not common because it would be discomfort.

Visiting Hakone and stay in ryokan is common and it would be a good experience.

Also, capsule hotels are usually segregated by sex - not very honeymoon-like!

How about the Nakagin Tower in Ginza for a night? There is a listing on AirBnB. Sounds a lot cooler than a gender-segregated capsule hotel, but has a similar feel.
