Recommendations for things to see/do in Tokyo

Hello...I will be in Tokyo for 3.5 days and am having some difficulty figuring out what to do. I would love to hear recommendations on things to do or see in Tokyo and/or areas close by. This is what I have so far:

Fri Aug 8:

- Arrive 10am...nothing planned in day yet

- Giants baseball game at 7pm

Sat Aug 9:

- Bike tour 9am to 4pm

- No plans at night...maybe pub tour?

Sun Aug 10

- No plans

Mon Aug 11 (until 12pm)

- No plans

I was hoping to see sumo practice but I've heard that they are closed now. I appreciate any feedback you may have. Thanks.

start here:

Then maybe here:

And yes, you are out of luck for sumo, but perhaps there are other experiences here you might enjoy:

It will be hot and humid! Do outdoor things early in the day if you can.

Visit an observation deck to see the city. This also needs to be done early before the haze covers the city. I've never been to Tokyo Skytree but it is highly recommended and opens at 8 AM. http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e3057.html

Enjoy a garden. http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e3034.html Here are my favorites (all opening at 9 AM): Rikugien, Kiyosumi Teien, Imperial Palace East Gardens

See old houses. Few in Tokyo, but Nihon Minkaen, a fine collection of old houses from all over Japan, is a 20-minute train ride and 20-minute walk from Tokyo's Shinjuku Station: http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e3253.html

Thank you very much for the recommendations. All very good suggestions.

Does anyone recommend a day trip outside of Tokyo? I'm thinking about maybe doing something like that on Sunday, but am unsure where is the best place to visit, etc.

Tour of sumo

The 10th Yamagata Prefecture

The 11th Miyagi Prefecture

The 12th Akita Prefecture

It is done in.

So, during that period, practice does not take place in Tokyo.

Perhaps, the ticket might still remain.

Concierge of the hotel stay of you might be willing to buy instead.

I will recommend Nikko outside of Tokyo.

Cool than Tokyo, and places to see such as the Kegon Falls and toshogu often.

I'm riding a bike this time, but please be careful to heat stroke.

As much as possible, and wearing a hat, please bring (such as Aquarius and Pocari Sweat) sports drinks.

Supermarkets and convenience stores and vending machines, sports drinks, or kiosk

They sell.

Outside Tokyo: My first choice is Nikko. It might even be a bit cooler!

I am going to Tokyo next week and I have been working on my itinerary. I just selected things I want to see but maybe it can give you some ideas:

Day 1:

Shibuya

Menji-Shrine and Yoyogi Park

Takeshita-dori and Omote Sando

In the evening: Shinjuku for the view from the Tokyo Metrtopolitan Government Office and of course the bars.

Day 2:

Asakusa

Akihabara for some retro gaming and manga

Imperial Palace Gardens

In the evening Oedo Onsen Mongori in order to relax.

Day 3:

Tsukiji Fish Market

Edo-Tokyo Museum

A bit more shopping I think

And Ginza for more shopping and the bars

As for days out I am spending one day going to see the Mt Fuji and one day going to Kamakura. If I had another day I would have tempted Nikko which seems great.
