Visiting JB

We will be in Singapore for a week in February, this is our third trip there and we thought we would spend a couple of nights in JB. We have not visited JB before but have been to Kuala Lumpur and enjoy this city.

What are the attractions of JB?

Attractions of JB town: better and cheaper seafood, cheaper golf courses, pirated CDs??

Outside JB: May be can try Tanjong Piai ---- The southern part of Asia mainland. You can google this. Night Fireflies trip at Kota Tinggi River etc.

Depends what you want and may be can explain more.

What we don't want is to end up in a place that we feel uncomfortable to be . We loved Singapore when we visited last year and the hotel rates were really cheap - around $250 AUD for the Club rooms at Marina Mandarin and the Fairmont, now they are nearly double that. So our plan to stay there for 7 nights starts to look rather expensive. We have also been a few times to Kuala Lumpur and once to Penang. Both these places are interesting even though not to the stanndards of Singapore but we love the atmosphere, people and beauty of the land.

We would be interested in playing golf and looking around the city, hubby doesn't like shopping but likes to see different places. The good hotels are very cheap.

From our research, it looks like JB was probably once a place that you wouldn't want to visit but has improved greatly over the last few years, is this so?

Our main priority is ease of travel. We do not like travelling by taxi, for various reasons and would rather use public transport. It sounds pretty easy to get to JB but not travelling out from there which is fine if we only spend a couple of days there. We would look at spending longer but there is so much to see in Singapore with all the new attractions that have recently opened but don't want our whole trip to cost a bomb.

JB defintely hotel will be cheaper, the 5* hotel for just around RM250~300/night (less than US$100), but be frankly speaking not much for others. But if you like golf then can consider here as there are more than 15 over courses around JB area. May be can consider Pulai Spring Golf Resort as they have quite good response of the room. www.pulaisprings.com/v_flash/index.html

Yes, the public transport is not so friendly that may be using charter transport to one place will be easier.

Tanjong Piai may be one of the suggestion:
