Penang public transport reliable & frequent?

Had some bad public transport experience in KL but not sure if Penang is the same?

Is the public transport in Penang reliable & on time? And are they frequent?

Want to get around Gunnery and George Town

Assume you mean Gurney Drive when you say Gunnery. Here's the website for rapid penang buses - http://www.rapidpg.com.my For buses from George Town take any that goes along Jalan Kelawai and get off and walk through to Gurney Drive. The 101 bus is the most frequent - probably every 10 minutes. Over on the right I've posted an article about getting round by bus which you might find useful. A Grab car from the Gurney Drive area down to George Town will only be a few Ringgits.

Sorry bit confused,..isn't there a free rapid shuttle bus that does circuit around Penang?

Know about the hop off hop on bus and routes for that.

Staying at Royal Chulan Hotel and want to go to far end of Jalan Penang near Bayview hotel.

Which way does bus go, approx time it takes ??

Tried to examine List of Bus routes but couldn't see best route.

David, look at the free CAT route.

Turn right when walk out of hotel for CAT bus stop(Jetty/Feri) .

Or walk to the back of hotel , then thru Sri Weld car park where there is another bus stop in front of the police station (identified Immigration).

You can get off at bus stop “Lebuh Muntri” which should be about be 5-7 mins ride

Money changers are licensed so yes, they’re all reliable and dotted all over the place. A long row of them are on Pitt Street (kapitan Kelling) opposite the Goddess of Mercy (Kuan Yin) Temple. There you can often get a slightly better rate as they’re willing to haggle a bit if you’re changing a large sum, but we’re only talking a Ringgit or two. Otherwise you’ll find them in shopping malls or various other places.

Plenty of money changers in Georgetown.

5 -10 mins walk from your hotel are the popular ones with good rates as there is a row of them so it is competitive.

Lebuh Pitt (opposite Goddess of Mercy temple) and Lebuh Chulia.

There is a money changer behind your hotel (a few doors away from Sri Weld foodcourt Beach) which you can check out.

Unless you are changing big sums, the difference is negligible, equal to a bottled soft drink.
